how would one put together the .r<#> files(where # is a number from 00 - 38)? the ones after .r28 winrar dosent claim as being winrar files. also it has .rar and .sfv files. any help is much appreciated.

also, will this work with VC++ 6?

IF THIS IS DESERVING OF A DELETION BY A MOD PLEASE DO SO...

Easy.

Don't download pirated material. Call MS and get an XDK CD.

After a certaint number, WinRAR doesnt show it's file association to it. Just open the .rar file and extract from there. Also, no. The latest XDK wont work with Visual C++ 6.

what would be the latest version that would work with VC++ 6?
capboy210
just extract all the all the contents out of the winrar or zip, then put it in a regular folder and run the program smile.gif
d34th_r3c0n
then whats with the .r## files?

will this work with .NET 2003 Pro?
capboy210
once extracted open any of the r folders, and install the XDK software for the computer, then use remote recovery...... and im not sure about the requirements for it, but just give it a shot, i think it should work with 2003.

Have a look at the tutorials for setting up the XDK. You have to extract files from the recovery ISO and install them manually. You need Visual C++.NET 2003 Pro for the XDK version you have.

Like I and others have said. It's best to head over to the tutorials and look at setting it up there. The .r<insert number here> files are parts of the installers. It's been split up for ease of use, like if your last part is corrupt you wont need to get the full thing again.

You have many files but only one is .rar
Open the .rar and extract the file inside. It will see that the other parts of the file are in those other files with the # extensions and automatically retrieve the data from them.

Then burn the ISO to a disk (or use the exe that it came with. some have an installer already).

BUT you will have to have Visual Studio .NET 2003 or earlier (not too early though). Anything after that the XDK doesn't work with.

i see, so i only need to extract the .rar not the .r##.

thanks for all the help and I'm following hydra's tutorial as i hear it is the best one you will find.

again, thanks for all the help

Last I hear, that flashed your EEPROM with a blank.

The .rar will get the files out of the .r##. Opening and extracting it from any file will do the same though.

ok, yeah i have heard horror stories about the recovery thing.

and i was making sure that i didnt need to extract each file individually... im guessing thats what the .sfv file is for.

thanks again for the wealth of information
