So I had all the story mode completed, 80% of the sparring mode completed, and almost all the costumes. I turn on the xbox and load up DOA4. As the game is starting it asks me where I wanted to save my data, so I chose the harddrive. There was no other option. The game loads and EVERYTHING is gone. All the unlocked characters, all the costumes, all the system voices. At least 10 hours of work down the drain. fvcking riduculous. Is there anything I can do or do I have to do everything over again?

**EDIT**
ok I took a few extra seconds out of my time and found this for ya... hope this helps

Just for you guys I went ahead and posted on another topic back on 12/21 how I been saving my games with COD2. I just beat the whole campaign over the weekend and have had no issues with me saving.

So here is my post back on 12/21 regarding saving CoD2:

12/21/05:
In regards to saving I myself have been reading all the problems with saving so I've been very careful on how I save.

First - I insert the game into the 360 before turning it on. I noticed that it takes a lot longer to get your saved game in the main menu when you go to the x-box dashboard then directly going into the game itself.

Second - I make sure that my Gamertag gets connected online

Third - I make sure that I go into "resume mission". Sometimes this option does not appear it only shows "single player" and "multi player" so I wait till the "resume mission" icon shows up. If it takes too long then I go into multiple player so that it can register my gamertag since the 360 assumes that I'll be going online, then I go back to the main screen and the "resume mission" icon appears. This I've done about four times and it has work all 8 times.

Fourth - The way I save the game is simply by hitting "save and exit" I do not save after every mission, I only save while I'm on a mission and plan on taking a break so I "save and exit". It works

Fifth - The other thing that I'm avoiding is not letting no one else (e.g. younger brother ) play the game as another profile or anything like that to ensure that it does not overide my previous save game.

So far I'm half way in the American Capings and have had no issues, the only issue is that sometimes in the main menu it does not have the "resume mission" icon so I do step 3 (above).

Hope this helps,

First: everything is gone... it sucks I know but that's the short and the long of it, it's a bug with DOA

Second: if you want to prevent it from happening again you need to do 2 things
1. Never boot the console with the disc in the drive, if you have a disc in the drive while it's off boot to the dashboard first.

2. Disable auto sign-in for you account.

If you had done the above this thread wouldn't exist...

oh and PSST... the forum search may be down but the Google search works just as good if not better for finding this type of information.

Not to mention this was heavily covered in the news which is still search-able.

I hope this wasn't directed towards me... and if it was please no subliminals... hard to tell when you use pieces of my post and I wasn't the one who asked for help

snow let me know if you did find the info you needed.

twistedsymphony do you know if the search option on Xbox-Scene will be up again or is it going to be down for good. I prefer using the Xbox-Scene search rather then the google search.
snowcrash8
yeah thanks for the help everyone. i knew the bug existed in COD2, but I had no idea that it was in DOA4!

yes it was directed at you, because your excuse was that a "a little birdie told you the search was disabled" when the Google search works just as good if not better when searching for these types of things. Just because the built in search is disabled doesn't mean you can't search.

Infact using Google to search for "DOA4 Save Game site:xbox-scene.com" I've come up with
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=479653
and
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=479487
So don't tell me the search doesn't work when I can just as easily find the two most important topics using the Google alternative.

Yes it will come back. When the 360 was released, the traffic on the already hurting servers nearly doubled. The built in search engine was removed to keep the site up and running until the servers could be upgraded. Basically with the search enabled you'd be getting the constant SQL error pages that we were getting for a while. The upgrade is coming, it's a slow process but it's coming.

Yes, by Tecmo, they've said they're working on a fix and in the meantime it can be prevented by following the two things that I posted above.

yeah this happened to me too, luckily I had only completed Story Mode with around 6 chars. I'll make sure to take the steps above. Thanks for the info!

KAGE360
im still waiting for my fixed 360 and i knew not to turn on the system with the game in the drive, however why should you disable auto-sign in? i know having the game in the drive leaves the chance open enough for the game to load up before your profile does thus creating this sort of issue however whats the difference between loading up the dashboard before putting the game in and loading up your profile in the dash board manually before putting your game in?
