i just did a ram upgrade for my xbox. and now it dont even wana boot. it comes on, dies 3x, then frags:S any ideas. where did i go wrong. and is it even fixable:S

Wow If an led on the p/e board burned out would you give up and throw your box away and get a new one?

Anyway. is it fragging or fraoing? did you make sure the ram chips were facing the right direction before soldering them in? did you make sure 100% there was no bridges or solder splashes? 75% of the time a failed ram install is a bridge pin you cant see or a solder splash.

i said fuck it, removed the chips i added and cleaned up. but now its fraoing. i dunno wtf i did

Have you checked for solder splash? Or burnt traces?

Edit:You should just grab a new Mother board/hd if you cant find anything Visually wrong with it..Also like cappi said you might have bridged the points.

I wouldnt be saying stuff like that to a mod.

anyway. fraoing means that it has a bridged pin, or you mite have lifted a trace some where. quadruple check your work.

i sorta lifted some of the pads removing the ram. but cleaned em up. im not sure what to do anymore

I CLEANED UP THE BOARD AND SCANNED THE BACKSIDE OF THE BOARD AND FOUND A POSSIBLE BRIDGE. SO IMMA CLEAN THAT UP. BUT I WAS ALSO RANDOM LOOKNIG AND I FOUND A BUSTED SURFACE MOUNT CAPACITOR AND A SCRATCH ON THE BOARD ACROSS 2 LINES. THE LINES LOOK FINE JUST HAVE THE GREEN SURFACE SCRATCHED OFF. BUT ITS THE CAP NEXT TO THE TSOP ON THE LEFT SIDE NEAR THE BOTTOM LABELED C7D? "SCRATCH TOOK IT OUT. BUT ITS THE LINE CONNECTED TO THE LPC BUS TOP PIN RIGHT COLUMN. COULD THAT CAUSE THE SHIT TO NOT BOOT? IM NOT SURE BUT IMMA UNBRIDGE THIS POINT I FOUND. O AND BTW, THIS IS A 1.0 MAINBOARD WITH A 40 LEG 1MB TSOP

Wow, lay off the caps lock. Its possible that the missing capacitor would cause it not to boot. If you get the exact label of it (C4D2 for example) then Id be able to tell you the value of one you could replace it with. PM me with the pics while youre at it so I can look over them.

lol my bad but yeah, i fixxed it. damn bridge on the pad on the back near where the usb daughterboard goes.
