Ok -- I've followed the directions going thru mIrc and using FTP to access the xbins.org thing

there are SO many files, i have no idea what to "grab"
when i choose a folder and drag it over, it moves them - but then, me not knowing how large the folder is to begin with, i max out and get kicked til the following day. so needless to say, i'm not having much luck.

he has Xbox ver. 1.6-1.7 (he says it gives him both options)
modchip - Xecuter 3 CE Solderless ModChip (for Xbox V1.6)

I've been using this site and reading all the FAQs, so, once i get the proper files, i'll be able to burn the CD.

I keep seeing reference to an "Evolution X" but have not been able to locate that.

can anyone point me in the right direction with what files to get?

Thanks --
Frustrated Mom.

i don't understand what exactly do you want to do to the xbox uhh.gif
mrs_smyth

he installed the chip onto the motherboard, and it wont run until we (meaning me) gets him some files so his xbox will work again.

like i said -- i'm totally clueless where xbox's are concerned

this was one of the pages i was following:
http://home.comcast.net/~x3guide/Old/index.html

and this one:
http://www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios/disc.htm

I hope this helps clarify it a bit

1) STOP trying to transfer whole folders. Get SINGLE FILES.

2) You can search xbins with RAW Site Search commands (like "site search evolutionX").

3) Evox is a dashboard, which is an application, for the Xbox. Look for that...

Get yourself AID or Slayer's. They are both auto-installers which can reformat your drives and install tons of dashboards and other goodies. I don't they they are available through xbins, but you can get a torrent of them there and then use your favorite torrent program to get yourself a copy. They use your favorite ISO creating program and then to burn to disk, I suggest DVD Decrypter, a free AMAZING program.

Good luck.

1) Slayer's and AID *are* ISOs, so you do not need an ISO creator...

2) Neither are needed for what the original poster is trying to do.. Helpful, sometimes, but not needed. The comcast guide shows a great way to install Evox using just the RAR pack. The X3 Config Live "OS" will do all the formatting for you.

3) First things first, you'll need to flash a bios to the chip, using the FlashBIOS program you see. It is already on the chip, so you need to go to xbins and get the X3 bios, and only the X3 bios. Go to xbox/bios/xecuter and you'll find it.

You can either flash from a bios file burned to a CD, or flash via HTTP as that FlashBIOS guide shows. Easier by far, and since you'll be FTPing to install Evox anyway, get that network connection set up right away.

OK -- i was in that folder... the bios/xecuter - and grabbed the whole folder (before i heard not to, and only grab the file)
but in there, i see "flashbios_cromwell" and "hex_code" folders

I guess it would be helpful to know the name of said file... but this will get me going.

thank you.

X3_3294.rar

You want X3_3924_v16plus.bin that is within that RAR pack. www.rarlabs for WinRAR if you need it.

thanks for all the help --- we did get the file loaded, but he's not able to connect to LIVE yet... not sure of the problem - but i'll address that when he gets home from school. I think we still have to manually type in the IP address - last time i saw that page, the 3 (IP addy, subnet [255.255.....], and something else) all the numbers were 0000's. So when i mentioned to him that that could be one of the problems, he said that he can no longer access that page...and cant figure that one out either.

another thing: When he manually turns off the chip, he gets a blue screen that says
"Service Required. Call Customer Service"
and there is no way out of that screen except to turn off the box.

any ideas?

and i will post back again with other troubles we are having, in a few hours.

again -- thanks for the assistance.

Firstly do not try to connect to live with the chip turned on you will be banned, Was the hdd replaced when you installed the chip? if so the error you are getting when turning the chip of is probably because the hdd is unlocked. You should be able to lock the hdd throught the X3 menu. Was the xbox ever connected to Live before it was chipped?
mrs_smyth
ok, i just had him turn it on... when we went thru the trouble shoot, it say:
"Your Xbox console cannot communticat with Xbox Live because the software or hardware may have been modified"

>>Firstly do not try to connect to live with the chip turned on
when it's turned off, it says to contact cust.service, can we can go no further except to turn off the box.

>>Was the hdd replaced when you installed the chip?
No, it is the original

>>is probably because the hdd is unlocked.
in the console, it say the hard drive is UNlocked, but does not allow it to be changed -- if is does - we can't find that option.,,, AH -- just found it in "disk tools"

>>connected to Live before it was chipped?
Yes, it's been connected to LIVE.

OK -- now the HD is locked, the chip has been turned OFF in the console -- and we still get the trouble shooting "...cannot communicate...Xbox Live cannot be found"

thanks in advance --

Well sounds like you've been BANNED from LIVE.
mrs_smyth
can you get banned before even connecting to LIVE?
we've never gotten the box to work yet.
ksteiner
So why do you say this

Ok, i just had him turn it on... when we went thru the trouble shoot, it say:
"Your Xbox console cannot communticat with Xbox Live because the software or hardware may have been modified"

That's the "You got banned" Live message.

In anticipation of your next question.

To be able to connect to Live again you will need to replace the HDD and EERPOM, if you check out the BST forum there are plenty of people who sell EEPROMs. (The EERPOM is a .bin file which you flash to the xbox). You also need an IDE hard drive that is lockable.

Until you do this the xbox will never connect to Live.
JonBOY
EEPROM troubles..........welcome to my world. Now he needs a new un-banned EEPROM for a v1.6 Xbox if he wants to get back onto Xbox Live. Talk to Spiffyville, he might be able to hook you up there.
mrs_smyth
thanks for all the help guys.... I'll post back in this thread when i have more quesetions.

thing is... he's got 2 xboxes... 1 that has been chipped (banned) and his brothers old one, where he was able to get all his accounts to.

I know i'll need more help on this to figure out what the best route is.

thanks again,
