Ok, so i got the demo today. I started setting it up about 2 hours ago, and this damn thing is still not done. Also whats up with all the info they want? E-mail, Home Address, phone number, whats next a piss and blood sample? This damn game better be worth it. Oh yea, dont forget to get a USB keyboard to set it up, never had to enter so much info for a game!

I started setting it up then i couldnt be bothered to figure out the controls when trying to input my birthday and just gave up. oh well

I wonder if it's really worth it! I just got OXM yesterday and was not in the mood to set up the game. It feels like I'm applying to become a US Citizen with all the crap that they ask you fill up. Do you guys know what Beta is all about?

DOn't think I will pick up the demo or the game after hearing all the horror stories of setting it up...

By the time I finished setting it up, I was not motivated to play. I finally picked it up a few days later. This is the first MMORPG I've ever played. I have a PS/2 keyboard not USB. So when somebody asks me a question online, I'm limited to entering "hi," "no," or "ok." This one guy (I'm assuming he had a keyboard) asked me where to find such and such place and if certain items do certain things. The guy damn near wrote an essay. So I'm standing there like a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest: useless. I hit the power button and went to go get drunk.

This game's biggest fault is not having voice chat. I don't know wtf Sony was thinking when they decided to let console gamers sans USB keyboards enter text with a controller. Voice chat should be mandated.

I could care less if they left the graphics looking like crap. I just want to be able to ask someone where I can find a certain object instead of having them wait 15 minutes for me to type it out on the damn controller.

I'm not going to go out of my way to buy a PS/2-to-USB adapter. Why should I? When will the purhasing-of-extra-shit-I-never-needed-before end? I agree with what some people have been saying: this is the most expensive console out. You have to keep buying this, that, and the other fuckin' thing just to play comfortably. Tremendous.

You're funny. I didn't mean PS2 like in PlayStation 2. I meant as in IBM PS/2 port. The PS stands for Personal System. It was a mid/late eighties computer that was a giant hit. It's only $5, but I'm not going to get it just to run back and forth with my PC's keyboard. I find purchasing a keyboard even less appealing. All these extra purchases are just silly. I didn't buy Steel Battalion because of the $200 price tag, and the fact that only two games in the Xbox's library support it.

So I installed it after 3 hrs yesterday. Got to play for 10 mins, then went to sleep. Today I turn it on and, "some data might have been corrupted, because i didnt use the exit viewer button" Are they fucking kidding? It wants me to update again, as if ffxi was never installed. WTF! Looks like sony is going to get the shaft from me again. Oh yea, and this game is a piece of shit......played 10 mins and felt like i was playing something from the 90's.

everytime i go in the game it gives me that error but i never have to update it just checks a few files

No offense to anyone on the board, but ENOUGH with the gripping.LOL. It DOES take a while to install, but its only hard if you are a retard. Besides that, its more than a demo, its pretty much the whole game, and if you dont have a keyboard, there are shortcuts for most things you'll want to say. It takes a bit to get used to but its a pretty good deal for free. I'm wholey addicted.

Damn, just spent 10 dollars on this. After reading this I sort of regret the purchase. I know the negatives, are there any positive comments? Haven't tried the game out yet because exams are a bitch. Tomorrow is the last day though so i'm trying it tomorrow.

oh its fun, but we here at the scene like to bitch about annoyances. so thats mostly what youve been hearing. the game isnt anything new been out for at least a year or two now. just now making it to the 360

FFXI has horrible graphics too.

Ok, its not such a bad deal since it was free(actually $10). But when it's rlsd, who is going to pay for this terd sandwich(assuming its the game plus a character). The graphics are ass, headset dosen't work...WTF! You really have to be a final fantasy geek to enjoy this game.

I suggested it because its compact, easy to use

sure in 480p they suck but if you play it in a high definition mode its really not that bad. looks a hell of a lot better than WoW does to me.

Why bother. The comment about it feeling like a 90's game is true. Played it when it first hit PC and it sucked nuts back then.

thats the beautiful thing about the 360. just stream over your entire mp3 collection and put it on random. i do it every time i play so i dont even know what the default music is.

I have adhd and I could stand to install this game. It's awsome, I love games with amazing particle effects as this game does. And the loading times aren't there. I love the ability to manipulate people and help people. Just get a USB keyboard it's worth it.

The best part about this game is when you go to uninstall it from you Hard Drive and get back your 5GB of space...

This was my first game like this and i have to say it really sux...........Im playing on a 46 inch high def plasma and the graphics still suck............I cant even get into the game..........Its like that gay ass music and fudge packing fags running around all day............LOL Naw but to some people like myself it just doesnt register in my head to want to play something like that.............GIVE me GOW Halo3.............I want to blow your head off...............

so clearly you like a different style of game than this one offers. really though, no one asked you what games were better. those games arent even in the same category.

and as for those "fudge-packing fags" as you put it, theyre probably getting alot more out of their games compared to someone like you who likes to "blow heads off"... if you ask me, that sounds like a pretty "fudge-packer" type of activity to enjoy.

a little more info then it just sucked.

after taking forever to install and figuring out what i need to do and all the updates i played for 15 mins before turning it off. the text was small so it was hard to read some stuff. i have no idea what my health is i cant read it. i walked out of the town finally found a monster that someone wasnt attacking and it killed me. next time around i do a little better i kill a monster but i am almost dead. i ran back to my house to heal and i was done with the game. before i left i ran around town looking to figure out what to do. i think i might have to head over to gamefaqs to figure out the best way to start.

I know it's not expensive, and the adpater is even more affordable. However, my point still stands. Voice chat should be an included feature just like other Live games. More so in this game because it's a MMORPG that requires you to communicate with people constantly.

I've never had a problem entering in text with a controller. Games that I've played required a minutia of text like my username. That's not the same thing as a MMORPG. Yes, I know there are shortcuts to some common things you want to say, but a lot of the time you want to converse more than just "Trade item?" or whatever.

I don't agree with the tedium of entering in text with an add-on keyboard when voice chat is so readily available. I'm no game programmer, but how difficult can it possibly be to enable a pretty standard feature on a ported game that would sate the masses? The developers should make some semblance of an effort to make ported games appealing to owners of a system. Otherwise, this should have just stayed on PS2 and PC.

but i totally agree that its not worth paying for every month but at least now that its free then it looks like a great game to me. i guess theres a real learning curve on it.
