The hard drive on my un-modded xbox died and now I'm looking at replacing it with a 250gb hard drive (go big or go home! biggrin.gif )

There are 2 HDD's that I'm looking at that are the same other than one is SATA-150 and the other is ATA-133. Does this matter to the xbox or which would be better? BTW the ones that I'm looking at are Maxtors.

I realize that I'll need to add a chip, right now I'm thinking of the X-Ecuter 2.6 CE, would this matter as to which hdd I should get?

xbox is ata 33 so ull need the ata one or the sata one with an adpater to make it ide.The chip does not matter to which hard drives you can /cant use

ata-133. the xbox uses an ide cable not sata.

btw 2.6 should be fine just make sure you flash it with a recent bios so more than 137gb will show up.

Thanks for the quick replys ATA it is then.

What the hell is with the hdd's that are from the factory in these things? I've been trying to do at least some of my own research on this and man there are a lot of failures with the hdd's. (sorry just venting! grr.gif )
