ERROR 74 Code 1022 is a problem with the "ANA" or "HANA" chip – has anyone found a fix yet?
There could be problems with ana/hana swap because these chips are "per box". They are married with flash and flash is marriend wich CPU..
Anyway, I think it's not problem with ana/hana at all.. I had few consoles with E74/1022 codes and in EVERY boxes it had problem with GPU.. Yup, xclamp work for me, so try it first..
PS. Now, I'll search for possible fix for errors:

Going crazy here :-) 3 weeks ago my dvd player (samsung) started to give errors (open tray error codes), it wa completely out of the blue, used it without problems for 2 years. Then after a week it suddenly dissapeared. Till yesterday, cause then i received the first ROD ever

leds 1,3 and 4 where blinking red. So i tried everything, open the 360, reconnected the dvd player etc etc. Didnt help, tried for like 1 hour to let it run fine again, but no green led

the, after 2 hours it suddenly went on without an problem! but when wanted to start a game, it tried to read the dvd and it froze... I went mad LOL :-)
When i push the on button, i immediatly hear the dvd making a loud sound, so i still think its the dvd player. I tried to generate the secondary (hidden) error codes, but it didnt responded to it.
Anybody can confirm that its the dvd player? Looks like it i think?

E71: possibly a dashboard update error, Check below in the "Console Reset Codes" for instructions. If that does not work there is no other solution and the console must be sent back to MS for repair.
Hm, it's pretty clear that timing attack will work for this error.. Too bad, I haven't console with E71.. But, maybe I can get it with infectus and hex editor hehe

So need to be confirmed

Hi, I recently got the 3RLOD with a secondary error code of 0020 and all I had to do to fix it was open the case, unhook the fans and turn it on. Once It started over heating (switched to the two left lights) i set it infront of a space heater about 6 inches away with the heater on high for about 15 minutes. Immediately after that I shut it down plugged the fans back in and powered it back on and the problem was solved. Played a game on it with no problems. im guessing its just a cold solder joint somewhere. Hope this helps someone.

I do the thermal paste over and all is well, it is kind of labor intense to remove all those screws, and the X-clamp can be a little tricky at times.

You are on your way to getting the :(leds 1,3 and 4 blinking red; it will work for couple more time and then you might get e74 error, then 3 red lights....I have seen it one too many times.

It had the error 0022 and it works now...
I did the x-clamp replacement turned it back on still 0022...
So I overheated it(fans plugged out) let it cool down for 30 minutes and after that it worked again

Thanks for this tutorial
I hope this helps these who got 0022 as I didnt find a single guy who reported this to be working when I used the search function

my 360 crapped out about a month ago. Got the E74 1022 error. I tried the x-clamp fix last saturday and had it working again but it just died on me again today. Same error codes. Is there anything else I can do to bring it back to life again?
As I said before I did the x-clamp replacement and the baking trick along with it. The system worked fine for almost a week then I was playing COD4 and started getting black spots on the screen. If I switched to night vision the spots turned red.
Anyone have any info that could help me?

ok ive tried both the xclamp mod and the 12 cent fix, still nothing, but now since i tried the 12 cent fix when i turn the 360 on its side, the non hard drive side, the light will jump from the 1st quad to the 2nd quad and will blink at a different speed from the others. when i lay it back down flat it will go back to the 1st. does anyone know about this?

hey guys, i went through the first page list of errors and couldnt find the problem im having and i thought i found someone who had the same problem i did on page 38 i think it was but no one really talked about it or anything so i thought id try to explain my problem here. my apologies if this has already been covered. i searched the forum and google for hours now.
it seems random, my xbox freezes within 20 seconds of it being on or within half an hour. it can happen in the dashboard or while playing a game(ive tried multiple games). it does it with the harddrive in and with it out. half the time the freeze is accompanied by a large screech that lasts less then a second but not every time. i dont get any red rings and when i reset i get no error codes or anything.
so thats all i can think of thats important for now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

To all of you experiencing 3 ROD (0102) try this!
Again this is for error code 0102
Let your Xbox360 3 ROD run for about 10 to 15 minutes.
Then turn it off and turn it back on quickly, it might boot up.
Mine does (almost) everytime.
I'm guessing this works because you heat eather your GPU or CPU back in contact with the motherboard. Rebooting with your xbox 360 while heated up might allow it to function properly for a few days if left turned on (not recommended).
(This has only been tested with my box giving the 3 red lights error 0102 and should not be taken too seriously)

this is my first time on this forum, i tried searching for code 11, 011, 11, and for some reason it just keeps giving me an error message.
i had the ring of death, did the "fix" and added the pennies under the RAM chips, and it worked for 5 months and then i got it again. this time tho when i did everything again, and i did the washer mod, i just get the 2 bottom lights flashing. i found this site and saw that i should check the heatsinks to make sure they are tight on the cpu and gpu chips. i took it apart again and looking at it it looks like the heatsinks are touching, i tighten everything up as tight as i think proper but i still get the code 11.
what am i doing wrong?

Awhile Back, I mysteriously got an E69 error code. Hard Drive Failure, It turns out. So, I just used my memory card to play. I have scoured the internet looking for a solution as to how to recover my saved games, themes, gamer pics, downloads, etc. with no luck. Now, I discover xbox-scene. Any chance someone here could help me out. I have tried just about everything I could think of, with no luck. All M$ told me was to send it to them so they could format it and send it back to me. Ok, but I still lose my data! Needless to say, I passed on that offer. 90+ hours of Oblivion down the drain is way to much to take! Anyways, every time I connect my hard drive, I get the same E69 error. I remove the hard drive, it works. I use memory card, it works. I connect my brother's hard drive, it works. It just refuses to work with mine attached. Please Help and Thanks in advance for your time.

I had 0022 after x-clamp replacement it worked fine went back to 0022 after a minute overheating the cpu brought it back to live and after a few hours of gameplay it got 1022 so I cooled the cpu as I kept getting 0011 when I overheated however I cooled the cpu so that the gpu overheated 0012(took me almost 20 minutes) since then it works fine for 3 weeks already no artifacts or what so ever...
To keep it alive I am running the fans on 12V, did the fanshroudmod, added a case fan and installed small heatsinks on the RAM, southbridge and ANA-chip
I hope this helps...

So i've done the x-clamp fix and it worked fine for a few months, today i turn my system on and got the red rings again, this time for 0100. Does anyone have a fix for this? I don't have time to take it apart this week, just trying to get some clues on what it is.
First error code was 0102, x-clamp solved it but it would occasionally freeze about 5 minutes into a game, after a reboot, i was cool to play for 3-4hrs a day.
Thanks
P.S. anyone ever consider sending their box to 360-pros.com and have them fix it? I bought a dead system off of ebay and can't get that one to work for the life of me, I've gotten a few to work before but this one is being a bitch. I'd like feedback to see how their service is.

3) No image nor sound is present. I've tripled checked and confirmed that the av cables are properly plugged in

Appearantly we are the only 2 persons who have dealed whit this issue reading through all 46 pâges here
for the rest its code this or code that i read!!
I on the other hand have always managed to get it to boot succesfully the second time when i turned on my box again. That has been the case from DAY 1 when i bhought the dreaded box and still is as of today, proximate 1 year and more old by now!!
It started whit the on and off x2 yoyo annoyance from the verry beginning when i bhougt that system wich leads me to believe that m$ sends refurbished boxes to local stores wich they sell as new units
Then a few months ago i started to have E74 errors frequently and ive ignored it, since it woud boot/ startup every time in a second attempt no problems. Untill an few weeks ago i got the 3 Rings of Destruction, so i wos llike FUCK M$ and either apply the x-clamp fix myself or kick the box from 10 high downwards rather then to re-send it to m$ after all the sshit ive put up whit.
So, few weeks ago i appearantly succeeded to fix the 3 RROD permanently as my box still does it thing.
But iam still unable to solve that startup annoyance like i have had from the verry beginning when it was new and innocent
SO? WOTS THE DEAL WHIT THAT !! No , sounds, no video, no red rings, no GREEN rings for that matter, just the green light in the middle (me thinks power led) !!! I checked my psu, and it led GREEN alright!!?

I had something interesting happen tonight. I was playing R6V2 and all of a sudden my power goes out for a split second and comes back on. Then my 360 starts giving me the 3 rings of death. I turn it off for a moment and turn it back on and it appears to be fine. Am I entitled to a free repair now? My 360 has been very unreliable as of late with freezing and disc read errors, but until now no RROD issues. My 360 really does need to be repaired, but it's out of warranty unless of course I get the RROD. So what do you guys think?

heyas everyone i just joined but i have a very interesting fix story that might help others in my position
i had a 3rrod error that was translated into the 0102 error
!) i did the "penny mod"
solved my 3rrod issue yet created a 2 RROD that was error 0021
2)after running my console on with out the fan (the more advance towel glitch)
it didnt work also
3)i did the heat gun (i used a very high end blow dryer a Conair 1975 with a 1875 W power others have had success with a 1500W)
4) i got a new error code 0011 like wtf man cmon?! *thank god i was on spring break to dedicate this much time*
5)i tried other cooling mods since 0011 is a over heating error
6)i re-installed the dreaded xclamps on the cpu and un screwed all the silver screws and only have four gpu heat sink screws holding it all together.
summary:
0011 can be fixed with a blowdryer and ONLY screwing in the gpu screws
downside:
youll need to add in the xclamp mod to the gpu and add in arctic silver 5 for it to run at 100%
*itll hicup every few minutes and your fan will be very loud (your fan trying to cool down the gpu*

note: if anyone needs a full directions on the 0011 fix pm me ^^

Ok guys, so here is my weird problem...I flashed my Hitachi 79fl (bought on christmas this year, so it should be a falcon) two months ago, and since then i was playing burned games absolutely normal...Until when I played Fifa Street...While i was playing, the game froze and when i restarted the xbox E64 appeared with
(/)(\)
(\) / - this 4th one blinking...I checked the code and it was 1001...
After that i tried to start it more 5-6 times but with no luck...I left the console and after around 2 hours I started it again and it didn`t show the error...

Later night i decide to try again this time with Fifa 2008...The match started normally but while one of the goal replays it froze again...And since then (last night) it has been showing this E 64 Error...Although my dvd its even making noise/rowing when I turn on the Xbox, like its not there...
So any ideas about that ?!
Oh and i am not sure but just to ask...Should there be any epoxy or something over the second largest chip (with the metal rectangle in the middle) ?
And sry for my bad english...

Hello,
I'm new here and just got a 360 off of ebay thinking I could fix it, I did the x clamp mod, and the over heating mod, after putting it back together I still got the 3 rings, I got code 0020, after messing with it for 2 days I found if I loosen the screws on the GPU I get code 0021, tighten them I get 0020.... any idea;s?

After posting this I thought I'd try and find the sweet spot between the codes..(play with the screws to hopfully get it to boot) when I got close to where it should be I get code 0022

QUOTE(jfishel @ Jul 16 2006, 05:32 AM)

i followed your advice and used a heat gun on my bga ram chips and southbridge as well. the first run i used a fairly low temp and a quick try proved correct. it powered on and made it to the dashboard. roughly 3-5 minutes later, it froze. that simply backs up the theory about the ram chips being poorly attached and/or poor quality chips.
IMHO, from the behavior the system exhibits, many 0102 failures are due to bad RAM or RAM that was damaged by exposure to heat. Try to think about this more from a planar point of view and less of a console. when a motherboard fails to POST, we tend to trouble shoot Physical Damage->BIOS->RAM->CPU (in no particular order). once you've ruled out physical damage and since in this case there is no adjustments to be made to the bios, RAM/CPU are the next logical areas to troubleshoot. by simply looking at the design of the heatsink for the GPU, it should be fairly obvious that there is indeed a heat problem where the chips located under the heatsink are exposed to higher temps w/o any benefit of the heat sink just milimeters above it. personally, i'm going to send mine back to MS and get a refurb. i'm curious to see if anyone has chopped off their GPU heatsink to expose the ram chips below, and added a fan to it. Even adding some sort of heatsinks for the remaining RAM chips exposed on the top of the planar like the ones referred to in the above post. Anyone wanna give that a shot and post the results?
i tried using 2 cpu heatsinks on one of my boxes and it just gave me the 2 red lights for overheating right away. so just the gpu was covered not the other 2 chips next to it under the origional heatsink.

I dunno. I started having the exact same problem the other day and now I have the ring of death and a 0020 code. It all started when I bought the new COD4 maps, I couldn't get them to download. It'd get to 51% and then freeze. After a few minutes it'd say that it couldn't finish the download and give me a status code of 80070185. It tried to redownload about a million times from Friday to Monday. I called xbox support. They don't know what that code means, it's supposed to have letters in it. They think it's due to too many people downloading it, just try again later or early in the morning. I did just that and then it started freezing at the logo screen. Once in a while I'd get the E-68 message on a screen with a system error message written in different languages, which means something different than E-68 in the middle of the screen all by itself. But both could be the HDD. Taking the HDD off got me to the dashboard, putting back on got me freezing and sometimes the error message. I call MS again yesterday and told the guy what was up and gave him the referance number from the day before. I mentioned that I thought that it could be the HDD and he promply told me that due to an ongoing update he couldn't do anything to start the repair process for the HDD wait a day or two and call back. And he hung up. So I tried playing around with basic troubleshooting again, unplugging everything, waiting a few, plug it all back in (memory cards and HDD included), and then it happed at about 2AM. Three flashing red lights and the 0020 code. I've tried playing around with all of the basic things again and rebooting over and over and still no luck. I guess it's dead and now I gotta call MS and see if they're willing to get the ball rolling yet, or will they make me wait a few more days until they want to take my info. I can't even get the damn thing registered on the web site inorder to get the process started. It told me that there was an error with the web site and to call customer support.

-0001
-0002
-0003
I have few ideas
Regards, Sowa
Sowa i was wondering if you found a fix for the 0003 error?

figured the ghetto brick was getting to hot, so lets just say i put an ice pack on it.... ok so i put an ice pack on it
worked for about an hour (halflife 2 (( that games really cool)) ) video is still fuzzy btw
and now im back to 0102 error
oh and i got one of those super noisy intercooler things to help cool down
anyone good at this type of thing

ermm i dont no if 0020 has been fixed yet but basically i followed the RROD instructions and had no luck still i kept getting 3 Red rings.. and whilst i tried the " resolder " trick to leave it to overheat for 2 minutes it stil would not overheat and flash 2 rings instead giving me the error code 0020... However to fix this i jus made sure the fan was plugged in. even tho the guide said to leave it out.. and i just had the fans hanging outside of the case to make sure nothing was getting cooled... xbox then started to overheat.. i let it cool down reconnected it all and it worked

0110 is known...
it is a problem with the RAM, putting a washer on the RAM below the GPU heatsinks sometimes fixes it otherwise you will have to heatgun it...
And for E74 go here
