Okay, Ill be honest. I F***ed up softmodding and tried to restore using Xboxhdm. The first time it did not work. I used the same eeprom file to unlock the harddrive, only this time the drive would not unlock. Will buying a modchip allow me to just keep the drive unlocked all the time thus use a new harddrive with my backed up files? I do not care about playing on xbox live. Thanks in advance.

Yes a chip and a new hard drive will solve your problem. But, how did you lock the drive initially. There may still be a way to unlock it.

If I remember correctly, with the lockhd -a command

You should then be able to lock it with "XBOXSCENE", no quotes.

Yeah when you initially used xboxhdm and locked it up, it set the master password to XBOXSCENE

Try maybe just xbox or master or password. Although I believe it shouldve been xboxscene
