alright I tried putting data on a cd-rw and closed the cd... didnt work wouldnt read.... think there is any way I can either use an open-ended cd-rw (aka just dont close the cd and leave it so i can bsaically use the cd as a drive) other than that is there a specific drive that i need to use to add a new dvd-cd drive i tried mine and it didnt feel a need to work

A closed session disc (or plain or DAO burn) will work just fine.

It's your media.. either cheap or unreadable by your drive. CD-R < CD-RW < DVD-R generally.
