OK -- so, my kid was on Xbox Live in the middle of an "important game" (so he says) and then it froze and locked him out. the he got the black scrteen page with green writing (in about 11 languages) that says " Your Xbox Requires Service, Please contact customer service".

any clues?

and it is the box that does NOT have the Mod Chip in it...
I think this Box is about 4 yrs old... is it on it's last leg?

the other box, that had been altered - he just wants to take the chip out... but i told him it's more complicated than that.

TIA,

mrs smyth

What error # does it give in the top left corner?
mrs_smyth
he said either 11 or 12
(he's gone thru this a few times tonight - he'll get back in and get locked out again.)

Open it up and check the grey and yellow cables on the back of the DVD drive. Disconnect them, then re-connect them to make sure they're on there nice & tight.

If he still gets that error, then try swapping out the DVD drive.

Why would she need to use xboxhdm? Errors 11 and 12 are relating to DVD drive (not connected, malfunctioning, etc....). There's no need to hotswap anything.
