Hi, I recently(feb 2nd) bought a Xbox 360 and two days aog I noticed that I
could use a Service called Windows Media Connect to listen to music and viem
Images directly from my PC to the xbox 360. SO I download the WMC and
installed it in My PC, and everything went fine, it detected my Xbox 360 and
authorized it. Then on the 360 dashboard I connected to my PC and it detected
it and connected to it and I was able to listen to musci and watched my
pictures on the Xbox 360. Then late at night i shut down my PC and the 360.

Yesterday afternoon I booted my Pc and the 360 and I tried to do the
same(Listen to music) but the Xbox Dashboard couldn't see my PC, at least on
the Media Tab, it couldn't find it, I went to the System tab to Windows based
PC and there it was, but in the Media Tab it couldn't be found, I disconected
from it, and tried to connect again and it didn't find it, I booted both(PC
and 360) again and it couldn't find it. I couldn't do anything to connect to
it again, so I unsitalled WMC rebooted my PC and the 360 and installed it
again, and then everythign worked great! But then again today the same thing
happen, once I reboot my PC the next day it can't connect to my PC! The only
way to do it, is unistall/reinstall!

Does anyone have a clue on what might be wrong? I don't want to
uninstall/reinstall everyday! Why it connects without a problem just after I
install WMC and then after a PC reboot it doesn't??? What can change between
reboots? If it was a firewall problem it wouldn't connect at all right?

Could it be that the IP asigned by the DCHP server expires and the
connection is somehow based on that authentification? Does this even make
sense? What I did today ws aassigned an IP to the Xbox 360, and put that IP
on the DMZ. Should I do the same with my PC, or should I leave it in
automatic for the DCHP server?

I hope someone can shed some light on this, I know very little about
networking.

My system is as follows.

ADSL 1.3MB Connection with a Speed stream Modem connnected to a Linksys
WRT54G Router.

My Pc is connected wired to the router and is set to automatically asing an
IP.

The Xbox 360 is connected wireless via a Xbox 360 wireless network adapter.
IT is now set to a specific IP.

I sometimes connect a laptop(wireless) and a wireless print server, but they
are not connected right now.

Thanks in advaced and sorry for the long post and my english but it's not my
language.

In Another forum someone told me how to solve this!!!

It was the McAfee Firewall, by some strange reason it allows the connection to the 360 right after the WMC install, but then after the reboot it blocks all attempts form that IP! So I just allowed that IP in the McAfee firewall, and now it works great! I never tought about checking the Events on the McAfee Firewall! I di checked WMC was allowed but never checked the events!

Thanks anyway, and I hope this helps someone.

I'm going to assume my problem also lies with McAfee. However, I've uninstalled McAfee and my 360 still won't see my PC. Any help? Thanks!! (running XP Media Center 2005)
