Thanks to Team XBMC and Team Xored, as of 1/25/06 XBMC now has a built-in trainer engine. I put together a photo illustrated guide to help you easily get your trainer engine up and running.

For those of you new to trainers, here’s a quick Q&A…

What’s a trainer?
A trainer is a downloadable file that when properly installed in a supported environment will allow you to turn on specific trainers (aka cheats) to a game. For instance, if you downloaded a trainer for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, you can turn on trainers that allow you infinite life, infinite money, maxed weapons skills, etc.. Your trainers will stay on until you decide to turn them off.

What’s the advantage to a trainer?
If your gaming skills aren’t that great, you can turn on a trainer that will allow you to easily beat a particular mission, boss, whatever.

Can I use a trainer on Xlink KAI?
NO. If you are LOGGED ON to XLink/Kai, you cannot use trainers.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • FTP client (Flash FXP, Filezilla, etc).
  • A free account with Maxconsole.net to download Xored trainers (see step 2).
  • XBMC build 5/13/06 or later. Note that XBMC builds compiled prior to 5/13/06 require editing the xboxmediacenter.xml to set your trainer path, which is not explained in this guide, and no longer necessary in builds compiled after 5/13/06.

TIPS:

Changing Trainer Folder Path
If you want to change the path to your trainers folder after it’s been set, you need to go into ‘Settings’ --> ‘MyPrograms’ and select the ‘Trainers Folder’ option. From there you can navigate to a new folder, therby setting a new path to your desired trainer folder.

AdvancedSettings.xml Trainer Path
You can create an AdvancedSettings.xml file with the trainer path pre-configured. By creating this .xml file, you wont have to configure the trainer path through the GUI. This saves time after copying a new build to your XBOX. To accomplish this, create a file with any text editor and enter the following data:

QUOTE
<advancedsettings>
<myprograms>
<trainerpath>E:\trainers</trainerpath>
</myprograms>
</advancedsettings>

Change the text in red to the path of your trainer folder. Once the data has been entered, save your file with this name: AdvancedSettings.xml

Now FTP that .xml file into the ‘UserData’ folder found in your XBMC directory. When you re-boot your xbox, your trainer path will be automatically set. Don't forget to save the .xml file on your PC so you can transfer it after you install a fresh build. Please note that if you use the AdvancedSettings.xml for your trainer path, there will be no option available in Settings --> My Programs to change your folder path.

NOTES FROM THE XBMC MANUAL:

In-Game Keys (IGK)
In-Game Key's (or IGK) are used in some trainers to turn functionality of the cheat on and off during gameplay! If the trainer supports IGK then the IGK's will be listed in the trainer setting screen as IGK1, IGK2 and so on.

IGK key combinations:

IGK1 (Press both thumb sticks)
IGK2 (LEFT Thumb + down on D-Pad)
IGK3 (RIGHT Thumb + down on D-Pad)
IGK4 (RIGHT Thumb + Up on D-Pad)

LED Status
The Xbox LED is used to show the execution status of trainers. GREEN; means trainer in memory is being checked against xbe about to be executed RED; means trainer in memory did not match xbe just executed ORANGE; means trainer in memory matched and was applied to xbe just executed

Known Issues
All .MTE files must be placed in C:\trainers no matter what your trainer path is (hardcoded in the trainers).
NTSC trainers does not always work with PAL games, or reverse.

TRAINER PACK AVAILABLE

Mikerowesoft, who is one of the Admins at Maxconsole has just offered up for download a trainer pack (link below), which is basically most of Maxconsoles trainers packed into one compressed file. So if you want to forgo the search for individual trainers, then this pack is very convenient. To use this trainer pack just FTP the compressed file to your trainers folder then update your trainer list as explained in the guide above.

*If the pack doesn't have a trainer for a particular game you have, then you'll need to check Maxconsoles archive to see if one is available.

**Please note that trainers are created and submitted everyday with new cheats added, so you may want to check the archive at Maxconsole from time to time to see if a new trainer was created for any games you want try out.

The little "Overlay" means:

Grey : Trainer present, but inactive
Yellow: Trainer enabled

Trainer guide updated to reflect the new trainer activity status overlay icon.

NOTE: You must have an XBMC build compiled on or after 2.26 to have overlay icon functionality.

Is there an auto turn on/off function for these trainers? Since the releases of tech with the XORED trainer system in it, I havn't gotten it to work yet. I've tried various games. Now I've got the latest build and thought something changed, but still nothing. Do the games have to be on the HD maybe? I always load games from the disc. Is that the problem maybe?

I always update the trainerlist and rescan, but he doesn't recognize any of my games sad.gif
JayDee
It works great from dvd.

If your playing from a DVD, did you turn off 'Auto-run' in the system configuration?

If not, try this. From the xbmc home page click the following --> Settings --> System --> Autorun --> from the Autorun page turn off 'Autorun Xbox Games'.

Then go to 'My Programs', insert your DVD and click the 'DVD-Game' button on the left. Then highlight the game icon and press the white button then select 'Update trainer list' then select 'Trainer Settings'.

See if that works.

Also if you transferred trainers in the compressed .rar format, try extracting the the trainer files and transfer them to your trainer folder in the native file format.
JayDee
It *should* work from within rar. (wait for next t3ch as it is broken in that cvs)
Spykon
Sure, I don't have autorun on, otherwise I couldn't update the list. I might just whipe the whole XBMC and reinstall it. I've also found that I can't run any apps in the programs map. I click on dvd2xbox and he doesn't respond. Should I reinstall the whole XBMC directory?

I guess its a bit bugged, so I'll do a fresh install I think. Delete all previous files and only upload the new tech release.
Spykon
I can't seem to edit my previous post. I've done a fresh install and now all my problems are solved, except now I don't have any trainers anymore. In the previous release or the release before it, there were a huge amount of trainers included. Guess I'll search for that previous release and get the trainers from them.

Edit: I guess it's the 24th of January release. Thanks for help smile.gif.

Another way would to look at the THIRD post in this thread...

And btw, the problem with apps/games not starting had been fixed by deleting the myprograms*.db file in the XBMC/albums dir

To get access to the XORED engine I did a fresh update to the 2006-03-12 CVS T3CH build. Followed through the steps above and went into My Programs. Highlighted a game and clicked 'Update trainer list' but nutting... no nothing happens. No overlay icons added and no 'Trainer Settings' available

- un-rared all trainers to both C:\Trainers and E:\Trainers just to make sure... and there are atleast 20 trainers matching a game on my HD
- KAI disabled
- Trainers work when I launch games using the Xored ETM Mini Engine Launcher

What might be wrong?
JayDee
Re-read the tutorial and this time edit the xboxmediacenter.xml with the trainer path...
freddemannen
Thanks! blink.gif For some odd reason copy/paste failed... and I thought I had double checked...
Agent ME
Wait - we can't use trainers on syslink/KAI/XBC? EvoX lets you, and some trainers it works perfectly fine on syslink/xbc, like the 3rd person trainer for Halo2.

Is it specifically disabled in XBMC to not allow trainers in KAI? That sucks, because some trainers I like, like the Halo2 screencapture trainer, don't even affect gameplay and I'd like to be able to use it to take pics in kai/xbc.

Then go use Evo-x, or setup a debug box.

We do not want to help ruining gaming on kai with cheats!

I have installed cvs 4/17/06 from my 12/05 build. The trainers work except I do not get the cute little trainer icons showing on the games that have trainers.

Anyone else have this problem?
Blaatlama
hi there

i just installed the "XBMC-CVS_2006-07-25-T3CH"

and now i dont see the "update" trainers options when i press the white button
anyone know what i did wrong?

I update from a very old version of xbmc so i just deleted the entire xbmc folder, en placed the new one on the disc

everything else in xbmc seems to work fine except for this annoying thing :/

http://www.xbmc.xbox-scene.com/wiki/index....=Using_Trainers
man oh man i gotta get around to setting up an account for the wiki so i can update that crap.
the section telling you to set the path in the XML is no longer correct at all (in fact there is no more xboxmediacenter.xml and no hand-editing of any XML other than AdvancedSettings.xml).

on a fresh install of XBMC, the trainer path is not set, however XBMC is smart enough that the first time you attempt to update the trainer list, it'll ask you to select the trainer directory using a nice GUI. i believe it is also possible to set it from Settings > My Programs.

anyways everything below the "Using Xored Trainers" heading seems to be correct.
Blaatlama
i know

i fixed that

but i dont even get the option "update trainers" in the context menu

No, that part of the guide is correct, and it's intended for anyone using XBMC builds compiled on 5/12/06 or earlier. Not everyone is using the latest builds, which is why it's still there for viewing.

If your using a build compiled on or after 5/13/06, then theres an arrow in Step 2 pointing to instructions on how to update the trainer list for those builds. Last I checked, those instructions still apply to the latest builds.

Uhh, you still need to edit the rss.xml to add feeds, and dialogsubmenu.xml to add shortcuts, also what about adding bookmarks?

QUOTE(Blaatlama)

To get that context menu with the "update trainer list", you need to be in the "My Programs" window, and have a game highlighted, then press the white button.
JayDee
Updated as per xboxbox451´s instructions.

Is it normal for IGR (In Game Reset) to stop working when using a trainer? After I try to IGR the screen goes black and the LED switches back and forth from green and red. No big deal just turn the system off and on then all is well, I was just wondering if this is normal.
rohizzle121
i have followed the tutorial
and i updated the trainers and everything went worked perfectly
and then the overlay icon came up on the dvd
and the trainer did not work

i put a "backup" on my hard drive and the overlayicon wont come up

please help!
gentoox86
I have done everything here and the trainers are yellow on the games i have. They do not work still. any other tips to make them work. for instance i have unlimited health etc for spiderman ii and i still lose health.
JayDee
Make sure the trainer is for your games region.

A ntsc trainer may not work for the pal game.
shy-steve

Currently trainers are broken with the latest release of XBMC. Team XBMC is aware of the problem and is working to resolve the bug.

You can check the status of the bug ticket here --> http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/6886. Hopefully it will be fixed in time with t3ch's next release. If not, have paitence, as they are trying to solve the problem.

The last t3ch build with working trainers is rev19856 (2009-05-01). You can get it at t3ch's site found in the archive's drop menu.

Yes, I am registered. In the archive, every trainer page I went to worked fine. Clicking the download button is what led to the blank page each time, on several different trainers I tried. Just tried again on a few other trainers, same issue.
xboxbox451
Strange? Just tried downloading a trainer in Chrome and IE, both were successful. I never even logged in as registered with those browsers, which makes me wonder if registration is even required anymore.

What browser are you using? If Firefox, do you have AdBlock or NoScript installed, which might be causing conflict? If not, maybe your IP range is filtered from the site blocking access, check MaxConsoles forum for help in downloading.

I'm using FireFox + NoScript, with all scripts allowed for MaxConsole. I'll give it a try on IE.
