Here is a very interesting video comparing the water in Far Cry PC version (maximum detail) versus the Xbox 360 Far Cry Instincts Predator version. I have no idea where this video comes from, so take it with a grain of salt.
Update : I've just been told that this video was released by one of the FCI predator developers, originally only for internal usage at Ubisoft.

Download the video.

When is this due out? This is right up there with the other 5 I want badly. Its due in a month or 2 correct?

Deftech is right. The water in this game makes your jaw drop waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy down.

So fucking cool!
Master X
Your right man, the video is nuts. The water looks so realistic in the Xbox 360 version.
notsodiseased
Yup. Its going to be a rapetastic game. But i swear to god if it doesnt have adjustable difficulty I wont even bother. That almost killed the xbox version for me. I like a challenge and having the only campaign setting on what seems like "Ultra Easy" just doesnt cut it.

So as long as it has that It will definently be a must have.

:::Edit::: and WOW that water IS amazing. This could be a big thing for the 360.
Master X
They need to do some work on the SMG though, it does looks horrible.
notsodiseased
and you can bet the character models wont look all that hot either.

But it is still building up to be almost as good as its PC predecessor.
Master X
The hand and the knife looks very nice but I just think that they should add more detail to the weapons, Perfect Dark Zero's SMG looks way better then that one.
Ballz2TheWallz
far cry pc is OLD as HELL, dont act like for one minute that this isnt possible on pc

yes it is good looking though
notsodiseased
Okay?

I dont think anyone here is disputing that its not possible on a PC, I mean thats kind of obvious. I think most people are stoked that a console is finally getting the level of detail that weve been wanting since the Amiga days.

Also wasnt it stated somewhere that FarCry 2 wasnt in development (PC of course) anymore or something similiar? If so tis a sad day filled with sad sauce. FarCry (despite its age) is easily my 2nd favorite PC game both single and multiplayer. Just rock solid in so many aspects.

Also Do what deftech says and watch the video. Watching the waves lap the boat is almost hypnotic.
whiteblur67
that comparing the crytech 1 engine(pc) to the just annonced crytech 2 engine(360)

duh it going to look better blink.gif

woot for DirectX 10 though

OMG does that water look amazing. It moves so life like love.gif . Wonder what the draw distance is gonna look like on it now pop.gif
Stravos
I'd like to know where those waves are coming from. The trees aren't moving so there shouldn't be any wind. The waves are coming from the direction of a small cove it would appear. I don't get it. Sure they look great, but it's not very realistic if there shouldn't be waves in the first place.

paranoia rolleyes.gif

how did this become a "a pc can't do FarCry Predator like the 360 can" thread? lol

and I know we heard about the crytech 2 engine(or whatever its called), but I'd like to see it in writing that this 360 version of far cry uses it(I doubt it is). Last I heard that engine was being used on a undisclosed title.

laugh.gif @ the complaining about the waves. Good lord ya just cant please some people.

Stravos
Don't get me wrong, I think those waves look beautiful. Small details bug me, however. I'm sure that was just a demo to show off how good the waves look. I can't imagine them releasing a game with white-caps on a calm sunny day. biggrin.gif

X360 water effect and things looks kick ass love.gif

but comparing the old pc version is wrong tongue.gif
tonloc79
That looks great! Makes me want a jet ski game though, with those water effect!

CattyKid
Man, those waves look SO good.
What ever happenned to the retracted news that the 360 can't do physics effect (like wayer) well. You guys remeber that?
richie579
you guys know that crytek is with ea now right?.....their next game is called crysis, that's what's gonna use the crytek engine 2...I hope they get the ai right with fci360....the old xbox version pissed me off, the difference between NPCs reacting to you was a footstep when you were in plain view of each other....old pc version?...guys would track across the island just to sneak up on me after I would shoot at them, that was awesome...I'm lookin forward to this new joint though.

Edit: here's the link to the EA/Crytek announcement http://www.gamersreports.com/news/1157/

In case you haven't seen the latest Crytek Engine 2 (I hadn't) look HERE.

I can only say that it's amazing.
The download isn't the fastest, but it's well worth it.

uh the DX10 crytek engine 2 video

uh, farcry 1 will never have the DX10 crytek engine. Farcry 2, on the other hand, will. It would be rather difficult to compare farcry 360 with farcry 2 PC; not only is farcry 2 not even remotely close to being finished, but it is an entirely different game. That would be like comparing halo 2 to halo 3.
lostboyz
right i think thats what the video is showing. Far Cry had some really kick ass graphics, came out 2 years ago (guessing i never played but my friend played a lot when it came out), and so in just that short amount of time, a kick ass game gets better by a lot. this had nothing to do with comparing PC to 360. but what else are they going to compare it with the far cry xbox title?

I was just about the say the same thing, but you saved me the trouble.

Point: Far Cry on PC was beautiful, now you're getting that and much more on your x360.

Precisely.

Like I said a few posts earlier, ya just can't please some people.

A comparison always has to be made and things go awry after that rolleyes.gif

Will the xbox 360 farcry instincts have HDR?

blink.gif good point.
but they do look amazing
KAGE360
video looks great! and for the record yes, this still uses the old crytek 1 engine. yes maybe the PC can run this water but that is not the point the point is to show how far advancements have been made. looks damn good and now i cant wait to see how good the rest of the game looks, even if they only rewrote the shaders for the water and the foilage then it will still be a damn fine looking game.
Deftech
The lack of jaggies would have been enough for me, with some better ai. I tried the xbox version and laughed at it and removed it from the tray. The facelift the 360 version is getting is more than welcomed smile.gif

I hope whoever posted that this version is using the new engine, sees this. I knew it wasnt. Glad someone else could verify it was not.
