My mates 4 yr old vs 1.0 xbox didnt read any discs so i took it apart and cleaned thomson laser ,rebuilt hard drive with xboxhdm and installed new ndure softmod as ude exploit had gone to pot seemingly after dash update. It was working fine for 2 days, now it won`t read a thing.
Anyway,he told me that in year one he had modchip installed but idon`t know what it is.It sits to left of lpc and lines up with holes of lpc.Sorry about bad pic

When i was just about to put back thomson drive i noticed the wire from chip had came away from mobo(doh).I don`t know where the wire should go on mobo!.
I believe that vs 1.0 mobos don`t have anything but solder on lpc(this chip was right on top of it).The chip on bottom says `lattice` and chip to left of lpc says `intel and words `flash` as bottom`.
So i took the chip off and xbox still won`t boot.
Is there any other things i should take off mobo? or should i put back on chip and wire? (i didn`t think it was needed since softmod was active and working fine)
Thanks for help

It sounds like your xbox may have had a bad tsop flash at some point and someone put that chip on it to repair it. Either that or the pad came off with the wire when it broke off the board. Or the third thing is you could have splashed solder on the board when you pulled the chip off. I would clean the board off completely. Use a little alachol and desolder braid. Then I would scan the board for pulled leads and solder splashes. If that didn't work I would try to put a switch on the board and try to boot from one of the other banks on the 1.0: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v190/def...dotxbe/4way.jpg. That fixes a majority of bad flashed 1.0 boards. If that doesn't work...well you may want to persue putting that modchip back on the board or getting a newer mod and trying that. If all else fails, sell it on ebay as "as is" and get a new board from bst! Good luck

Thanks eyric for your suggestions.I don`t install modchips, just a softmodder (i prefer not to solder lol).
I found someone else with same prob (in spanish) and he couldn`t identify it either.I`m guessing that if it was maybe a 2nd gen chip there would be wires all over the shop?,so it maybe what you say just a chip to direct to a non faulty bank?.
Here`s a better pic below, can u tell me which hole it is i need to solder that long wire to next to nvidia chip to get it to work? cheers
