i have some old stereo speakers lying around could i jusr splice them into my computer speakers?

They have to have magnetic sheilding or they will fuk up your moniter.

Also the resistance (ohms) can't be less(or more, i forget) than what your sound card will allow
or you will fry your sound card.

Most computer speakers are self amped. Stereo speakers most likely wont be and thus wont be loud.
