First off you should go to the passport site : http://www.passport.com/. Make sure you are not logged in, and click on the "create hotmail account" link. Now, here is the important part, the site will ask you where you are from, select either Japan, the US, or Europe. Remember, this is the country where the demo is available, not where you really live! You will require some information regarding those countries so MS will allow you to register the e-mail address.

Here is the info we used:

United States
Postal Code: 10012
State: New York, City New York City
Phone Number: 1-866-530-1234

Japan
Postal Code: 150-2345
Province: Tokyo-to
Phone Number: 3201-3331

Germany
Postal Code: 54292
City: Trier
Phone Number: 065112345

You can use any valid address and phone number from the country where the demo is available.

Once you have filled out the info and applied for the Hotmail account, activate it and turn on your Xbox360. Press the guide button and choose "switch profile" (X Button). Now create a new profile, and a new Xbox Live Account, make it a Silver account instead of a Gold (so you dont have to pay). Next you will require the phone number mentioned above to use your passport. You could theoretically take care of all the passport stuff on the Xbox, but it will go much faster on PC with a keyboard.

Well, that is about it folks! Pretty sweet huh? The cool thing is that you can disable (they actually are disabled from the start if you have already a gold membership installed on your box) the auto sign for the foreign accounts, hence leaving your primary "Real" account hassle-free. Ejoy the demos!

*Update*: Apparently some of this info comes from
here, the reader who submitted it did not mention the source. This info has been floating around gaming forums for sometime, we figured it was time for a site-based tutorial.

If your ever in question about if somethings being released on the marketplace then just check major nelsons website, he posts it when it arrives.

Isn't there a way to have a Japanese profile and not have half the writing in Japanese? Most of it is in English, so it's not too bad, but there a couple of things in Japanese, like some titles, and most of the descriptions, that I'd like to be able to read.
Souske
lets think logically here. MS makes Japanese accounts, for Japanese people. Japanese people can read Japanese. Why would MS go through the trouble of translating?
MrBones
Did it ever cross your mind that there may be English speaking people there?
Souske
it did, and then the next thing that crossed my mind is that any person who lives in Japan and doesn't speak Japanese must have a really, really hard time.

i read that the N3 demo is only available as a freebie when you buy japanese 360 like the final fantasy beta (except that wasnt exclusive to japan, you could get it here with OXM)

There are plenty of people in the US that don't speak english and get along just fine.
Souske
right, but that's the US. In the US there are plenty of other people who don't speak english for the non-english speakers to chill with. In the US we have ethnic neighborhoods which cater specifically to people of certain ethnicities who may not be able to read english.

Japan is an island. Only 1,310,545 people there are foreigners, as opposed to the US where 31,107,890 people are foreign born. It also doesn't help the situation that the Japanese are generally(sweeping generalization here) xenophobic. Yes, you can survive in Japan not knowing Japanese, but it'll be tough as most of their signs, books, television shows, and most of the people you'll meet will only speak Japanese. From what I understand from people I talk to who have been there, it's a very nice place to visit but living there would get very very lonely.
scooby_dooby
But you didn't factor the foreign people/square mile ratio. Seems to me Japan would have more foreign people per square mile wink.gif
rzanwu36
dude, of course its harder to live in japan not knowing japanese than US without english... come on, im with souske
