ok so heres what i did. i moved evoxdash.xbe from my C: drive to my F: drive and now when i turn on my xbox it goes to the ms dashboard. i cant play any of my backup or anything. i was trying to get avalaunch as my default dash. but i have had my modded xbox for a week now and i had no idea what i was doing. i didnt even have it hooked up to my pc. i am an idiot please help!

i have no idea how to do that. all i know howto do is put games on my xbox. i bought this xbox from some guy off sell.com. so i have no idea wht i am doing.

Why not just boot off a slayer's cd and then FTP everything back to normal?

it is chiped. i think it is an excuter 2 or something that is what it says under the cboc logo when i start it up.

If it's chipped then a simple solution would be to boot an installer disc to rebuild the hacked dash. The reason your having such troubles when loading a disc would be media issue... or atleast that would be my guess. As a chip would boot regardless of what state the HD is in.

Try a better type of disc.

i am not having any problems loading discs. i can play halo 2 from the disc i bought. it just goes to the ms dashboard when i turn it on with no disc in it. and yes i have the mod chip turnd on. so how do i obtain one of these boot disc?

download slayers 2.6 or i prefer aid 3.0 burn the iso to a disk pop it in your xbox reinstall a hacked dash to c:\
avalanch or what ever i prefer unleashx and bam there you go.
if your chip is on it looks for a hacked dash in c:\ when you boot up. most of them look for evoxdash.xbe.
i would also recommed flashing a new bios i have a x2.6ce chip and use x2_5035 works great.that way you can also change your config.file through x2 config tool to boot up any dash in any place you wish.

WARNING:if you are a noob and flashing your chip sounds hard dont attempt it you could mess it up. and have to do a hot swap,or get a programmer this way is easy and you can always recover. i would open your box or try to explain which chip u have so you know which bios to use dose it have a switch .ect?????

and try to get a ftp connection to your computer to your xbox this is always good to see what going on in your xbox or do a back up i would highly recommend a back up of your eeprom hope this helps!!!!!!!!!

not knowing what dvd drive you have i would recommend memorex dvd-r not cd-r or dvd+r.
they always work for me and they work on all my friends xboxs.

so all i have to do is pop it in my xbox and follow the steps or somthing to that effect?

put the disk in your xbox chip on install hacked dash to c:/ and your back to before you started the topic.

theres also lots and lots of apps and emulators on aid 3.0 that wont hurt to install on your xbox.but if you use sertin apps worng it could mess up your xbox.......at the bottom of the aid manual it will tell you what the apps do....

you should read the manual twice before asking anymore questions regarding aid 3.0 for all the anwsers are there.......

all of what you just said went over my head. i can only get to the origenl xbox dash board. what iwas going to try and do is use lunix and splinter cell and hook it up to my pc and put avalaunch or evoxpro back an the c drive. will that work? i am a noob! sorry for being such a noob. and thanks for your help!

get the expliot gamesaves put them on a memory card.copy them to your xbox. put in game run linux and try to ftp into your xbox and put your hacked dash back into c:/ from were every you moved it.

and dont install a softmod while your in there

if this dose not work you can try what i told you to do to many times..for this is my last post to this topic................................peace out may u drive someone else crazy like you have done me.......

download some random xbox boot disk from ** don't suggest this on XS ** ...i use autoinstaller3...then when the xbox boots with the disk, you will get an ip address. now use a router(you best get one if you dont have one)

now, use flashxp on your computer and make a new site and create the xbox one you will use from now on. just enter the ip address that is displayed on the xbox(192.bla.bla.bla)and then xbox/xbox for name and password.

then you can browse the folders on your xbox and move your dash back where it was. or, you can ftp avalaunch from the autoinstaller disk to your computer somewhere where you can unrar/unzip it. now ftp the contents of the avalaunch folder to your c: drive. now rename the xbe from avalaunch to the xbe of the dash you had moved in the first place...this will cause it to launch avalaunch when you boot up.

your bios is set to automatically search for certain xbe's to launch...if it cant find one it will then move onto the next one in its config list.

sometime in the future you will want to flash your chip with the newest x2 bios and get the newest x2ool software to change settings as you wish. download the manual for your modchip..hit the eject button to power up the box to find out what your chip is.. and remember that the operating system on your mod chip is not the same thing as the bios you flash to it.

I am curious to what this magical operating system is you keep mentioning as the cure for everyones chip problem posts.

Re-flashing a chip is not the cure all... if it worked for many months no problem then re-flashing it when you have a simple problem is like removing your apendix for a sneeze.

wtf?? why would he do that? Just get an auto-installer like everyone else said and use that to ftp back your dash or just use it to install the evox dash temporarily (that is if you want a diferent dash than evox).

Erm, if it's chipped the simple solution is to boot to Boxplorer/xToolbox/UnleashX and move evoxdash.xbe back to C:\. ._. The only use for an autoinstaller on a chipped Xbox is to rebuild MS Dash; anything else and it bnecomes a complete waste of effort because much simpler methods are available. He could also just install Avalaunch by d/ling it and moving the files to C:\, but I doubt he would be capable of editing the XML file.

ok i got it to work. i went in through splinter cell and wnt it to xbox meida center and moved the file back and all is well. now that it works how do i make avalaunch my default dash? if it not to hard. thanks for all your help.

Getting avalaunch to work is simple. Copy the Avalaunch files to C. If you're using the Xecuter 2 BIOS, it will look for Avalaunch.xbe before it looks for evoxdash.xbe. If you're using the Evox BIOS, you'll have to delete Evoxdash.xbe and rename Avalaunch.xbe to evoxdash.xbe before moving the files over. Do this through FTP, of course.

how do i know what bios i am using?

he moved his dash and his xbox only boots to m$ dash......so he cant move files in his dash or use any apps or ftp....

using a auto installer disk will let him move his dash back in the file explorer....or just reinstall it in c:/ or he could ftp with the disk in also...

and its always very handy to have a copy of a auto installer disk....should be in your modding toolbox......

Look at the bottom of your screen when turning your Xbox on. If it says something about Evox or Evolution X, or if the X is blue, you have the Evox BIOS. If it says "Xecuter rox my box" at the bottom, you have the Xecuter BIOS.

Is it me or is he mixing two methods as one... He mentions modchip... bios... then method of fixing his problem by using Splintercell. In a previous message he talks about Linux and backup folders.

I am confused... is it a modchip you are dealing with or a softmod?

It's a mod chip, but some crazy people decided that using an exploit to gain FTP access would fix his problem. Or something along those lines. Anyway, if the guy moved MS Dash that would be a problem, but he just moved Evoxdash.xbe to F:. Moving one file only requires FTP access from disc, and there's no need to go through all the trouble of exploiting and/or getting Slayers/AID/whatever to do it.

I really wish the Slayers team hadn't released their disc to the public. There's a certain amount of difficulty that should be required when modding an Xbox just to weed out this "Slayers and softmods fix everything" way of thinking.

alright sweet. thanks for all yor help. and my xbox is chipped with an excutor 2 chip. what i did is loaded splinter cell and went in to evo x and went to apps went to ftp clinet and moved the file back. so by loading splinter cell thing it was just like i never moved the file i could get to all my programs. anywho thanks.
