I'm sure if you made some effort to describe your network more people could help you.

For instance......

CABLE/DSL modem > ROUTER > XBOX/PCS

or is your modem hooked directly to your PC? If it is, does your PC have more than one NIC? If it does, what is the 2nd NIC hooked too.

Right off the top of my head i'd check the IP settings. If you have the net hooked directly to your pc and not to a router, that would complicate things. Also, i've never messed with roadrunner so i wouldn't know how their software works. Does it create a "RR" network connection, is it bridged, or is the software merely running in the backround the whole time.

The more details you provide, the more help you'll get.

ok sorry about not especifying...anyways my cable modem is hooked up to the pc, which has only one NIC. could that be the problem? do i have to install another card to have a different connection? what do you mean by "bridged"? i saw the option to do that to the connection, but i dont know what it does.

So you have one NIC on your PC, and your cable modem is connected to it? This must mean that when you want to FTP in to your XBOX you have to remove the network cable going to the cable modem and connect one the same NIC on the PC and the other end to the XBOX, right?

If this is the case then probably the installation procedure for Roadrunner Internet (whatever that is) has changed the IP address of your PC's NIC so it is no longer nn the same network as the one on the XBOX, so they are no longer able to communicate. Check the IP address of your PC's NIC and then change the one on your XBOX so it is in the same network as the PC.

A more elegant solution would be to have the cable modem, PC and XBOX connected to a switch so they can all access each other simultaneously. (You still have to check the IP configuration if you do this though).
