I have a couple of working motherboards without hdds and wanted to mod them. I want to use the Xenium GOLD SP chip on the first one. My question is: Can I install this chip then somehow format a store bought hdd to work with the MB and in the end come out with a working modded xbox? And if so how do I get the hdd to work? thanks

First, you don't need to lock the hard drive with a modchip.. But if you want to start the xbox without the modchip enabled for whatever reason then you'll need a lockable hard drive. When the chip is installed, you can just hook the hard drive up into the xbox.. To get it to work with the xbox, you'll need to format the hard drive to the xbox filesystem.. I'm not sure if this chip has these functions but I'm sure it does.. Incase it dosen't then you'll need to hook the hard drive to the computer and use xboxhdm or config magic to format the hdd.

If you are using a chip. Just stick in the virgin HDD and boot the box from an Autoinstaller AID 3 or Slayers. It will build and format the HDD. It does the lot real easy.

so let me see if i got this down right:

1.install chip

2.hook up new hdd drive to chipped xbox

3.put slayers disk in xbox

4.boot and enjoi

is that it?

yup and then lock if you wish to boot unmodded

You will need to Flash the chip with a hacked bios after fitting it before it will run an Autoinstaller, otherwise thats it
