Cant believe I actually did it on the first shot !

Don't let the tutorials fool you, that LPC rebuild was stressful.
I did the wire rebuild since I had read the rebuild PCB was crap.

After all that, getting a good connection on D0 was a walk in the park.

My hands were shaking when I was soldering the pin-header so I had to take a break and get a stiff drink.
After that, I was much calmer..

Total install time = 2.5hrs.

although the PCB rebuild isnt absolutley perfect, it still gets the trick done and ive never had a problem with it.

Man you did it alot faster than me, lol. I had to learn how to solder, learned how to desolder real quick, and buy another soldering iron that wasnt as hot. And one thing that pissed me off is in the Xecuter 3 box for the version 1.6, there is a little purple looking thing that turned out to be the jumper board, but nowhere in any forums did they tell me that is what it was. So i just used jumper wires like all the walkthroughs showed me. Well it wasnt until later that i learned i didnt have to do that, that piece would have done it for me, without the wires!

my install time was only 2.5 hours because I had spent more than a week getting my soldering technique down.

When I finally got around to opening my XboX, I couldn't believe how small those little solder points were.

I didn't use the little purple board thing because I was afraid of not seeing what was happening under it.
You know; like if some solder splashed under the board.

I figured I wouldn't be able to see it and it would be a real bitch to troubleshoot.

The rebuild PCB is a doddle if you use the correct materials!

Lead/Tin solder NOT lead free
Flux

Fix the PCB in place so it aligns with each point of contact with the LPC on the mobo, secure with tabs of elec tape.

Use a toothpick or similar and apply a dab of FLUX to the points on the mobothat the PCB is to be soldered to, you can also do the pins too but i dont find it necessary.

Then using a 15watt iron i apply the lead/tin solder to the PCB points and it flows to where the flux was applied.

Then i remove the elec tape and solder the pins in as normal & soldering the appropiate ones to the PCB as well as the LPC holes.

Took me about 5 or so hours to install mine. I had to keep going over the solder points since it was my very first soldering job ever. Glad that using an X3 after 2.6 was quick and painless.
