Ok,
I'm not totally new to installing Xenium's...done about 5 to installing them isnt a problem.

But before i go blow up a perfectly good Gold Xenium chip...which way does the chip go, Does the X still face the back of the Xbox ?

The "bulk" of the chip faces the edge of the xbox.

the Xenium chips sit on the adapters as close to the FRONT of the xbox as possible. That is, the left over pins should lie towards the rear of your xbox. And yes the 'X' of Xenium goes toward the back of the box such that the chips LED points toward the left hand side of xbox as you look at it from the front.

Also, if you want a refresher course I'd read 'The Iceguide'. Its the installation manual for the Xenium ICE but its still relevant for the GOLD. Just google 'The Iceguide'
