I just saw that one of the acheivments in Geometry Wars
is 'Pacifism'.

...Stay alive for 1 min without shooting.

I went into this thinking about how SLLOOWWW the beginning of the game is...

Well, it took me about 30 minutes and Many, Many Many game 'restarts' to
achieve this.

I'm almost thinking this acheivement is a matter of luck than skill.

Who else has pulled this achievment off?

me and a buddy used a 60 second timer so i knew exactly how cloase i was to the 60 second mark, that way if i only had one second left i could make that last second gamble, took us about 10-15 minutes

2nd or third try, once you play for awhile you get really good at dodging

I did it the first time I tried it. It is pretty easy

once you get good at the game it becomes much easier, Definitely use a timer like hamwbone suggested. I tried a few times and failed, then I came back to it later with a buddy and a timer and it took me about 10-15 minutes to get.

Now that I'm better I'll often just start my game by doing the pacifism achievement

I can't recall having a problem getting it. I think I got it on the first or second try. It's easy. It'd be a challenge if you had to survive for a minute after breaking the 500k mark.

i have put MANY MANY hours into this game, i consider my self a very good gamer, i still cant get 250,000 points.

i wonder if i tried it sober and before midnite... hmmm

I felt the same way. 250,000 was my tops, all of the sudden one day I hit 471,000.

After a few more days of getting up in the 300,000 range... I found myself
With around 700,000.... And if you can get a rythm going and not die, the points start adding
up quickly.

I made it to somewhere over 1.1 Mil... but now I make stupid mistakes just around that time.

I suppose that is just the next rung in the ladder.

I'm guessing you get to a point where it doesn't get harder and you can rely more on a pattern?
I haven't reached that point yet, but when I do... look out!

Took me first try. You kidding now you think thats hard. How about survive to 1 mil... I mean i made it over 1 mil plenty of times.. But i couldnt even survive to 500,000... Once i made it to 450,000 without dieing but died suddenly becuase they spawned right ontop of me. I was so pissed... Well i just got this game a few weeks ago and i trying to beat kameo right now so. I prob can finish it someday though... But jezz survive to 1mil... I dont know how you get x10 points. That seems pretty darn hard. And x9 bombs that seems kinda hard also... becuase i always use my bomb when trying to get to 1mil and etc.. Well maybe if i get enough multiplyers... 1 mil is pretty easy later i get it usally everytime i play, survive now i seriously think thats impossible XD and x9 bombs...

..yeah, its funny how I can break 1Mil, but not be able to dodge things for 60 seconds w/out shooting.
I think my strategy (when using my guns) is just to 'pave the road'. (as they say in the movie ID4)
Without that, my dodging skills wouldn't last me too long.

I played my first game in a while a couple of nights ago.

Broke 2 mil on my first life.

Ended up with 2.3 million.

Talk about embarrassing. . .

i easily got the pacifism..

but i cant get past 300,000 points.. i mean i could handel it if they didnt change the weapons every 10 thousand.. i just like the spread gun but they always give me the gun that moves the screen and those little green bastards dodge it and kill me.. i couldnt imagine surviving 1 mil

I got it, once you hear a little ring that means u got the Pacisism achivment, I am up to 600,000 but i cannot survive 500,000 but this is one of my favorite games, i got all the new ones and still play this game none stop

took me two tries (got it on my 2nd). driving skills are very important to doing well in the game. shooting can only get you so far and so can bombs. There are times when you gotta have that extra agility that enemies don't have so yoou can escape and this achievement will help you with it. also you don't need a timer, imo. there is a chime that plays (as it does when you receive any achievement) and you can easily shoot off any enemies around you at 1 minute in. if you can't then just bomb and forget about it. or who cares, you got the achievement, die and start another game.

I did it on the first try. Unfortunately those are my only points that I have in GW, since I suck at getting all other points.

Tried and failed after 20 minutes. ADD I guess.

i was checking out this guys gamercard today while i was bored in a GRAW room and he had survived 250,000 and thats it, dunno how you pull that off but not have survived 100k or scored 100k and 250k

After awhile youll get used to both guns, at first i hated the big one, but then i found out that its really quite awesome, you can make a wave out of it and just push it towards a wall and itll scoop up all the green guys bash them against the wall, and they bounce back into the fire. Its also amazing on those little gnat guys

I did it my first try, then went on to not get hit for like 2 1/2 minutes, its pretty easy, just dont stop moving

dont remind me how frusterated (sp?) I got with this achievement.......

I either got very luck or am very good at dodging because I got this one my first try. My high score is still around 250,000 though.

i have tryed so many times, i just cant get it. maybe practice makes perfect, or maybe practice makes luck. i dont know, but maybe some day i can get it. every time i play the game i try for that acheivment first, and if i dont get it, i usualy restart.

*raises hand* One of my first achivements, it is hard, but only took me a couple tries. Just keep moving at all costs.

This was one of my first achievements in this game, i got it on my second or third try. It really wasnt that hard, the purpose of this achievement is to teach you that dodging is the most important aspect of this game, shooting is important, but you need to be able to dodge. I think the collecting 9 bombs was way harder then this achievement but i finally got the 9 bombs. Now i just gotta collect 9 lives, score 1,000,000, survice 500,000, earn a x10 multiplyer, and survive 1,000,000 i think. I LOVE THIS GAME! I came soooooooo close to scoring 1,000,000. I got something like 975,000! I was pissed!

I was able to pull it off on my first or second try. It really isnt that hard. Just keep moving around the periphery of the play field and don't stop. You actually dont even need to start moving for about 10-15 seconds since the windmills don't chase you.

I try to do it every time I start a game now, since it is a good warm-up.
