Full Version: Installing Xdsl Natively On G

Well, I just got my 250GB hdds in my two modded boxes today, and the AID 3.0 installation of Xdsl is running moderately well on both. (One box has horrible video display, but I think I know how to fix this)

But, this installation seems to be the frugal method. What I want is a native install.

Problem. I am using smartxx v2 chips in both boxes, and the aid 3.0 installer. My chip has an onboard linux booter, which booted my current xdsl installation. However, neither the chip, nor the unleashx formatter seem to want to partition me a G drive. But, I want to run linux on there anyway... so:

How do I get the drive partitioned correctly, and set up for an xdsl installation?
How should I boot linux? Continue to use the smartxx v2's loader, or flash a bios?

I am not sure that G is supported or enabled yet in xdsl. I may be wrong and often am. I think its just the F drive for a native install. Having said that if you did a temporary loopback install to E then edit friedgolds install script to install native in G. That might work. Dont ask me where the install script lives in xdsl though

You're right, xdsl is not supportive of the G drive. It won't even do a native install to F on my 250gb drive, even though the drive is partitioned down to only have an F drive. I still need to figure out how to get that drive partitioned correctly anyway, and when I do, I'll use F for linux and g for games... might have to change my emulator's ini's to point to a new folder, but that is simple enough. Anyway, right now, I can't even get a loopback on E installed and working correctly... I might have to go with a different version of linux and a different install method, aka... ftp over a working installation. Just some ideas.
