I first installed the Ndure 3.0 by Kingroach.
I then decided to switch to Krayzie's so I used MechAssault to ftp my old c and e folders to replace the new ones.
The weird thing was that it wouldn't transfer my c folders and kept giving a directory cannot be created error.
So I got a copy of Slayer and tried to reset my harddrive to "factory settings" so that I could access the old MS Dashboard. The Slayer program worked fine and didn't give any errors in it but when I rebooted I got an error 21 message.

Also, when at the error message, I can hear a faint weird crescendoing whirring/grinding noise, yet there is no disc in the drive.

I'm thinking I might have a messed up hard drive, but I was wondering if there is any other thing I could do becuase I'm not very technically inclined to replace it.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

try coldbooting burned discs cuz I have the feeling you've just formatted the virtual C and E drive (thus deleting your dashboard resulting in error 21)

Isn't that what Slayer is? I can boot off that disc when I put it in.

I coldbooted and Slayer launches but when I boot without the disc I get error 21 and can't see the dashboard.

Is there a way to FTP files in Slayer or should I burn a different iso to get FTP to try to restore my backups?

yeah you could ftp to slayers if the network settings are right (I thought it was defaulted to dhcp). If it isn't you need to make a bootdisc that does contain right ftp settings. Then install a new dash to E:\dashboard while you have acces

edit: optionally you could try the rescue disc in my ndure packages to restore the dash or C and E contents

Well, I restored my E partition just fine.

When I access my C partition, though, nothing shows up and I cannot transfer any files to the C partition on my Xbox. I know there should be files on there though because I used Slayer to restore the dashboard.

Is there a way to restore or fix just a C partition?

yeah...turn off the virtual C

a virtual C is protection feature of nkpatcher to hide the exploit files on your real C. To turn it off you could use the extras from my Ndure 1.1 installer

I can't load a game to run your installer or even access the dashboard to put the saved game files on the Xbox.

Basically all I can do is cold boot things.

Is there anything I could cold boot into and then turn off the virtual C?

I thought you fixed your dashboard allready (the Extras is an app and not a save). Guess not. Again try my rescue discc. It turns off the virtual C and restores the C and E drives.
