i have this 1.6 box that decided not to power up any more after installing a chip in it.What happend is it powered on the chip also it was flashing but i had no video or nothing so thinking maybe i had a bad connecting with the header pin i turned it off double checked all my conections all looked good.so i tried to turn it on again in nothing.i hear something like a clicking high pitched sound from the psu.so i removed the chip in the little board thingy for the 1.6 so it was back to stock tried to power up in nothing again but that sound.so i broke out the xbox repair guide in looked up the psu fuse check.i wasnt geeting a vaule with a multi meter so removed the round fuse as that is what it had and i took a fuse out of a sat ird in installed it on the psu.so i tried to power it on in i got the same thing with the sounds. The only way i can get a value is holding the ground on one side of the fuse in the hot on the other side.which i no they are both hot because i felt it while holding the wires lol.so im asking someone if they might know what the problem is like what that sound is,or if both wires should be hot conected to the fuse.the fuse also is the right fuse as its what the xbox repair guide called for in value.as for the wires going to the motherboard i get nothing with the multimeter.also what i cant figure out is why when i hold the groung prong to ground and hot to a hot i get nothing.I could use some help on this please.thanks
Chancer
If the Xbox is making a noise., then its nothing at all to do with the fuse. The fuse is on the mains input and if its gone you get nothing.
I assume you have checked the T2 transistor (see link in my sig 1.6 no power)
If that is ok then the problem is the trip is operating.
Take it to someone to repair it or get another PSU.
No offence but if you don't know how to correctly check a fuse its going to be tough to mend it for you.

I do know that the fuse is good like i said i installed a fuse link setup on it.As for the psu I get good steady reading up till the little white box with the black thing in the middle of it.Its right in center of the psu board in front of what looks like a shield with the caution sticker on it.the whit box has a sticker also that reads model.pscd101301a rev K.With some othewr things written on it also but anyhow. when i put my meter on it the needle clicks on my meter with the clicking i hear on the psu.Im thinking that the problem is in that area.Because i get no power anywhere on the psu after that spot. Thanks for any more help you might have.
