I just got wireless working with Halo 2 between two XBoxes (origonal, not 360) using Linksys wireless gaming adapters. Now that I have this working, I'd like to get a headset so we can talk to each other.

I have a PS2 USB headset (AFAIK, a generic USB headset) and a regular analog headset. I just wanted to know if either of these two will work. I made a USB adapter (not for this, so I could put Linux on it), so I was thinking that might work although I'm not sure since it uses a different controler port.

I'd be fine using the analog on, but I have no way of plugging it in. I did some reading online, and I think I need an XBox communicator to plug into an expansion slot. But, is it possible to buy this without a microphone? How much would this cost (yeah, I'm cheap).

Also, do headsets work with Halo 2 over system link?

Yes headsets work on system link in halo 2. If you want cheap, heres what i did:

Went on ebay and got a used xbox live communicator for $6.00.
Used a cell phone earpiece that i have as the microphone.



Never heard of using anything but an xbl communicator....
