Hi,

I'm looking at upgrading my xbox to a 300GB HD. When choosing should I be looking at the brand name or specific features of the drive.

I read somewhere here that Western Digital is okay, but I'm not sure if that means any WD drive.

thanks.

check the Compatability list

if it is softmodded you need one that locks.

If you have a chip and don't plan on using the oiginal dash, then you don't need to worry.

also be sure to use the correct patch for bios or nkpatcher if the size is over 130gb.

Personnaly I use the Western Digital
WD3000JB

It is a 300gig with 8meg cache.

Like Chorizo1 said, use the F and G
option when doing the softmod.

thanks.

so if i have a chip and just want to boot xbmc I do not need to lock the drive right?

oops. one more thing.

is there a particular brand and model in the 200GB to 300GB range that is known to be reilable?

thanks!

seagate barracudas all the way.. i got a 160GB in my ps2, and a 200GB in my xbox.. quiet, reliable... 5 year warranty as opposed to a 1 year with a WD....

i got both mine for $50 after rebates, no problems at all.
