TV setting is standard PAL, but the images are dumped in VGA using debug bios and Magnus' XIG2 - which by the way is an outstanding utility.

With what you're using, are you getting any flickering while using the standard PAL?

Debug bios and XIG2 lets you dump screenshots directly from the Xbox video stream.
The images are not taken with a cam from the TV screen.

How did you resign cars.ca2 after modifying it? I can cab it back up, but Forza always throws a DDE when trying to read it. I tried patching default.xbe but got frustrated and gave up. Glad you persevered, congrats!

anyways, i was able to extract the cars.ca2 file from the cabs folder and edit it all i want and now i'm just wondering how you repack the cars/engines folders back into a .ca2 file to replace the origional one, and do i need to patch any other files related to this one? if so could u let me know what ones and possibly how,

You know, for as big as a discovery this is, and compared to the people that post in this forum, why are there not more people demanding how this was accomplished? This kind of mod has been on our minds for a long time. IMO, finding a mod like this and not telling how is selfish. Whats the good of finding a workaround, if your not going to share how it was accomplished. Unless your just trying to:

A. Showoff (w/o intent of releasing a tut)

or

B. (This is unlikely) These images are fake (photoshopped)

And either of these reasons doesn't constitute a good reason to post a topic like this. Your not even posting reply's!

actually if you read the last post that DOS4GW wrote....... he says that he will look into making one, if he has time.

the biggest problem with releasing this................... is that it can ruin the game for good(for example on xlink)

it will be impossible to know if people are "cheating" once this is released.
xlive won't be a problem I think..........since I doubt many can do this on live(perhaps DOS can tho.......lol)

I am one of the lucky ones that has seen DOS4GWs' work actually work over xlink kai........and I can see how in the wrong hands this could be used for "bad"

for me forza has been a great past time..........and I have had it for over a year now..........but for new people just getting it............it would be a let down if they come to play online...........and everybody is whoossing by on rocket ships................ if you get my drift

im devided on the topic......... one side of me wants this bad, and the other would hope that this never will be released to the masses.

as of now its up to DOS4GW........he has made it possible.........and he alone will decide if it gets released or not

i had to laugh when i read that. i pictured some1 wizzing by at 1000 miles an hour.

I don't play the game anymore, i just loved how you can paint your car however you wanted. I want to flop wheels and paints and see what i can come up with, I just wanna be able to put my own work into the game.

i've used xbc before but never xlink or whatever its called. i modded halo before and it just makes you feel good when it actually works. it makes me feel smarter than i am.

i havent played the game since my xbox got banned because of my hdd swap and i lost my game save. and ive moved onto the 360, i cant wait till we can mod it.

There will be people out there who will want to use it just to cheat over the internet, and it would be wise not to give too much information, but i still would like to know, i'll even give 2 months cause i gave up cheating and i still have a few. i just want to trick out the camaros and corvettes

Yea, my bad about coming off like a dick. And I do see that he said he <I>may</I> release a tut, but thats what I'm saying. If he posted this, and doesn't intend on releasing a tut, well, (read m previous post). And yes, I do understand the possibilities of cheating on xlink/xbc/etc... XBL on the other hand, has become to sophsticated wnd I highly doubt this type of thing would be "XBL Safe"... if you catch my drift (no pun intended).

i've searched high and low and can't find how to repack a .ca2 file or a .cab file i can unpack them with cabextract but can't repack them. im sure thats what everyones problem is.

i'd be nice to know how to do so i can play with the cars a bit, and i dont think it wil be anything that can be used to cheat over the internet. just like halo, there can be a seperate room of some sort for modified files.

even if some1 could cheat with it, which is highly unlikely, there is only like 5 people in here who seem to care. and i only play xbl these days.

Yes, everyone knows that you can't repack Forza's cab files. This is what DOS4GW has accomplished, duh.

And you said you want to use the mod, but you only play on Xbox Live. This is probably the exact reason why he is contemplating on wether or not to release a tut.

what the hell is the matter with you? if you know anything about modding or hacking games then you would know what he has accomplished is NOT something that would be XBL frendly. It's not like halo where you modify the u or tdata files. the files that need changed are on the disc which means in order to cheat with this game you would need to launch live with a copy of the game or off your hdd, which at this time i don't think is possible.

this hack would ruin online play for people who play on xlink or xbc, not live, and thats why i said i only play live. i don't do xbc anymore like i did in the past. and i rarely play live anymore either.

and like i said, i know repacking the .cab and .ca2 is the process that we dont know but DOS4GW does know. i'm just saying insted of a long tut, just let us know how to repack, unless that itself needs a tutorial.

You said in your previous post that you couldn't find a way to repack cab files (something the majority of us here know) and you still felt the need to tell us. Now you say just let us know how, w/ out a long tut, when you don't even know what it involves! If it were some short little thing, don't you think somebody would have figured it out already?

I'm not some 10yr old kid that wants to put some giant blades on my rocket powered civic. I want to be able to discuss the technics of the actual mod. This way I won't spend hours after after a tut was released still trying to figure out how to do it. I don't wanna come back and ask questions that are cleary stated in a tut. I myself, actually like performing the mod, than playing the mod. So when I say that I wanna know how he did it, that's what I mean.

nvm it doesnt extract .ca2 or whatever it was. Im tired lol. I found another program that can extract it but for some odd reason everyone can use it but me. I dont want to post it for the sake of Forza. Dos are the intitials GE? Probably not but it says it can extract it.

Dude, game extaractor isn't a big secret, lol! The program is extremely buggy, and to my experience, has not "extracted" one file for any game of mine, let alone forza.

Well I never heard of it until like 2 days ago. And I can get it to extract forza... Just having problems saving it or whatever. But oh well I have a friend thats going to help soon with repacking the ca2

As much as I can see it it from both sides, being good and bad, surely its only a matter of time before the knowledge goes public.... As far as Kai and XBC are concerned.. I dont see a problem, if anyone is obviously cheating, they get booted, easily sorted lol

Have you forgotten about cheating to get better grip, 5% faster straight line speed, 5% better accelleration, better breaking or faster speeds through cornering?

It is quite clear that the problems with cheating not so easily sorted out as you say. If they where, there wouldn't be any problems with cheating - and there are! Just look at CS or PGR2 and your statement that it is so easy to sort out is proven WRONG.

Its selfish to keep the mods away from those who want fun from them.

Well this is great news. I hope it goes public. If people cheat to win on Xlink or anything else, then thats their problem... cos at the end of the day, they are the ones that feel like tools.

As for cheating on xlink with forza... people are all ready. Unlimited cash and level 50 all from a trainer? as far as im concerned, thats still cheating.... and people already use that to their advantage.

I think this knowledge is great for the scene. and also think it should be released to move the scene forward. for the benifit of those that want it for good... instead of letting the minority of cheaters keep it from everyone else.

It would be like: not running formula one anymore incase someone cheats to get an advantage. If someone can cheat... then someone else can probably catch them.

As for DOS... well done bro, you truly are a LEGEND!

I recently modded my XBOX, flashing up an EVOX bios and replacing the drive with a 250 WD.

Being an avid modder for PC and PS2 (GT3 in particular) I figured I'd check out the XBOX scene. Well lo and behold what did I find?

Some seriously cool stuff. Definitely more impressive than the mods I was doing for the PS2+GT3!

It would definitely be a bonus for the modding community at large for this to be released as it would save a great deal of hastle for those of us who will bash on and find a solution.

Either way give credit where credit is due - KUDOS people - fantastic job!!
