Maybe i'll get one if it's really impressing. The only thing I don't like about the cameras for the next gen is the potential immature conduct. If you win a game, you get fingered from your opponent, your obviously won't be happy. Also it can get much worse than that if you know what I mean.

Only when I need it for some kind of functionality. I'm a bit of a shy guy and barely make use of the headset, let alone a camera.

i just hope they dont make it so like if you get killed in like a game or something a little camera of the guy that killed you comes up moons me or something. im pretty sure they wont do that, but like that thing they have for the poker where you put your face in the game, thats pretty cool. and i'd get it for like webcam chatting. on aim and msn its too laggy and unorganized. on the 360 it'll be nice and smooth.

Of course I will.
I chose the first option - "Yes, I've been waiting for it."
I have.... I can't wait for it. I don't expect it to be even close to a "must-have accessory" but for Live Arcade games like any of the card games (especially Texas Hold 'Em when it comes out soon - though I have no interest in that game, really), among some other things, too -- It'll be great.
With it being rumored a mere $40 with a free arcade game, how can I pass up that offer?
MS will come up with many ways to use it -- not just with Live Arcade titles but maybe allowing to show your picture if you're at the top of a ranking list of a game or such? Who knows. I'm definately buying it!

i think this camera will be interesting i mean putting your face on the characters in the games maybe a boxing game where u use your own fists truly worth the money but i still dont understand the headset and why we all sound the same and the quality sux

I dont really see myself using a camera so much. Its a novel idea, but no real need for it.
I can image games using it to map your face to a face of a character, and then people abusing it by taking a photo of their ass.

Ha ha ha, that would be hilarious! Can you imagine getting sniped by a guy with an ass for his face?
Anyway, i'll let the camera sit for a while before I get it. I'd like to see some of its more advanced functions; I think I heard something about gesture gaming? That'd be sweet!

Yeah... I'll probably get it if it's good. I had the EyeToy Camera for the PS2 once upon a time, and it pretty much sucked. You could never get it into proper focus, and it was really bad at tracking your movements. I got rid of my PS2 about two months ago.
I could definitely see it being used the wrong way. Like what if some guy/girl started (use your imagination to finish the sentence) right in the middle of a game? Talk about distracting and unwanted.

I was impressed with the demonstration they gave on one the the videos on XBLive. But other than that, I don't see any other use that sounds compelling. So I'll wait.

I see many uses MS doesn't see. What about using it to interact with your facial expressions in games, like in call of duty I've always wanted my dude to go cross eyed so in the kill came they see someone cross eye'd sniping people

Ive think the camera would be cool, incorporating it into games and such. Plus i'd love to see my m8s face after i own him on Halo 3. I like the idea of adding camera oriented games in Xbox Live Arcade, similar to the ps2 eye toy games.
Also i remember seeing a vid where someone was describing the camera's functions, and explained how the camera could recognise you, I could see that working with the idea that when you load up the xbox 360 dash and your infront of the camera, it could associate you with your profile, and load up your profile, or maybe a lil greeting message everytime you walked in the room

The camera with Live integration is a bad idea IMO. We don't need to be seeing some guy's dick on there, which will no doubt happen.

Heres my guess, that MS might only limit the cam to be used in a private chat, during a game, rather than seeing everybody's cam in a pregame lobby lets say. So you could only view people on cam if there on your own friends list (so at least you have some idea who your viewing) That sounds more realistic than seeing just anybodies cam. I think MS have took 'flashing' into consideration when using the camera on LIVE
But pics might be a problem tho

I'm waiting to see... I wouldn't ever use it to show myself during a game on live, but I look forward to the games that use the motion tracking support.

That is what I'm holding out on the camera for. I got the eye toy for PS2 and it floated my boat for the first day or two than it just started getting boring. I want to see some real original ideas like having it recognize you.

My 360 is in my home theater room which is completely dark most of the time and dimly lit the rest of the time. I can't imagine a camera would work well at all. HOWEVER I think an interesting hack could come about where the camera is modified to transmit a video feed to the 360... it could be interesting. Things like taking a picture of your face to put in a game you could have it look like the creature from the
Come to Daddy video. Alternatively if you killed someone in an FPS you could send over a PWNED animation of some sort... lots of cool potential there.
I had a friend that used to do similar stuf with the headset, he'd plug the lineout on his laptop into the communicator and use soundboards from... lots of funny stuff there.

Sounds neat. I would try it out. I enjoy trying out non-traditional games. Guitar heroes is awsome and the new Real World Golf with the gametrac is pretty fun too. I only got them for PS2 though, I can't find cool stuff like that for xbox or xbox360 anywhere in town here where I live.

I have no desire to communicate with other players on LIVE. I don't even use the headset, and I mute all incoming messages. Most of it is just profanity and rude comments, so why would I want to listen to it. So as far as a camera goes, not interested at all.
Now if you want a great motion based gaming system, bring back this guy:

May 17 2006, 07:25 AM
well if ther is enough support for it from m$ (video chat, especially with people using MSN), then there would be a bit of a market for it.
but as it stands, it is like most other camerras, in that it is very dark. unless you use a high quality webcam, its hard to get a good pic. and i think that is why they wont sell many.
and for me, motionc ontrolled games get a bit boring after a while

What most of you that are werey to buy it because of the inevitible lude behavior to come with it fail to relize is that you may not be able to opt out in a supported games even if you yourself dont have the camera but the idiot(s) you play do. So that in itself doent make it a reason not buy it but a reason no to play its supported games. I plan to get more than one once the have something that supports them like the sword demo but as far as putting my face or seeing others in a game I'll pass. But my kids will love the lame eyetoy like games that we'll see trickle out for it.

Any games that support the camera will probably have a setting to disable/enable watching other peoples cams. Not only for the problems that have been named in this thread like pee pees and boo boos but for the fact that some people just don't have the bandwidth to view the video feeds in the first place. It's just like talking on xbox live some will use it for communication but others will use it to show their ignorance. Personally I can't wait to watch complete strangers make asses out of themselves

Everyone keep in mind that the crappy video from E3 that shows it tracking faces of people walking by at E3 clearly (not in the literal sense lol because the quality in the video is weak) shows that it's a high-quality camera.
So far the only thing that's been announced specifically is using it as your in-game avatar (think of replacing your avatar in Halo 2 with a pic of yourself, for example), and of course for the Texas Hold Em free Live Arcade title, supporting 8 players, so you can help tell bluffs and such, and video voice chat, as well as putting your face in the game.
MS will definately have a lot more up their sleeve so I have no worries and that's why I'm stoked.
As far as lewd conduct, MS I'm sure will keep a database of every used picture taken with it on to a Live game and thus if you file a complaint I'm sure they will not only be able to, but will track down that person and see if they did use the camera improperly on that date and take proper action.
Even if it didn't have many features, I'd still buy it. It's still a cooll accessory, and hey, it's rumored to only be $40 with a free game (probably the free Texas Hold Em) and 1 month of Gold (even though most everyone has Live Gold membership).
I will get my $40+ dollars worth out of it as soon as it releases and you can bet your money on it.
Wouldn't it be cool if the PC game coming out "Spore" came to the 360 and we could put our pictures on the creatures we create? How about the Piniatas we make in Viva Piniata? Hilarious.
I can't wait, can't wait. I was really surprised they never came out with such an accessory to counter Sony when Sony did the Eye Toy.
