Hi,

If like me you like to keep your consoles in a virgin state then you'll no-doubt be interest in this method of opening the clips on the back of the xbox 360 without scuffing it up!

There's pics and info here:

http://www.clevermod.com/index.php?article=24

Basically, use a CD/DVD spindle/tub plastic to make an xbox 360 case opening key that presses in all the tabs at the same time.

It takes about 5 mins to make up the keys, the plastic can be cut with regular scissors. Any chunk of thin but stiff plastic will do. If you've not got a CD/DVD tub lying around then you could try using an old plastic store card or something similar.

If anyone finds this useful please let me know!

Hmm I cracked open my 360 the other day and didnt mark anything. All you need is a small flat head screw driver and just push in each clip from left to right while prying the two parts of the case apart. Much better/easyer than making all these plastic key things...imo anyways.

I guess its a cool way to open your 360 if you have a painted case though. Not nice to scratch your case if you spent hours prepping and painting it. Nice find smile.gif

it's seriously NOT that easy.

I'm no fool, and i found it a pain to open one of my xbox360's, and all you need is a pair of scissors and a bit of plastic.

I'd be very impressed if you left your xbox360 with NO MARKS WHATSOVER by just using ONE SINGLE SCREWDRIVER. you normally need a wedge to keep open the clips that you've opened and a screwdriver to open the clips themselves.

making this plastic thing took about 5 mins, very simple to do, works every time, will not mark your 360.

take your chances with the screwdrivers if you wish but my way is the easiest i've seen and tried.

Does anyone know how MS repair people open the faulty 360's that they have to fix?

I did it the same way Adam6 did it. and yes, it WAS that easy. if you depress the tabs until you hear a click, they lock in place, and u dont need to "wedge" them open while you depress the others.
I agree the homemade tool may be usefull IF you have a painted case. Otherwise its fairly easy.
fbfrost
IF he did make this, then someone took his pics and everything. I was looking at digg.com and this was on the front page, with alot of diggs.
Well X-S wont let me show the link, it claims it a link to hacked.modded firmware(?)
But anyways, it was on the front page, with someone else taking the credit with his pictures and shit, kinda werid

Thanks Hydra for this simple solution from parts we all have around the house.

all you had to do was look at the bottom, seriously this guy knows his shit i have seen him in action, he is the real deal.
robsterz
I just tried it but I can't get it to work sad.gif
First I lift all the 4 hatches in the front and then I put a bit of paper in between so that it doesn't close.
Then I flip it around and insert the keys and I hear how it makes the "click" sound but the case won't pop open sad.gif
Any ideas of what I might be doing wrong?
Jonolche
You have to take the vent's out first (Pry them up with a small flat screwdriver.

M$ Repair, uses a special metal key, which is basically the same principal as "homemade keys".

Also, if you eff up your console case, and its still under warenty, buy a new case from a site like llama. But be sure you kept the sticker that is inback of the faceplate.
eastx
Not that I've looked around a lot, but is it possible to remove the case without breaking the sticker? I was thinking that you could bend the main shells towards each other on the front side as you open it, perhaps flexing the sticker but not breaking it? Or can I make it look somewhow like a broken sticker has not been damaged???

That would be impossible as the case needs to be completely sperated to open. It would not open if you do not seperate the front of the case. You cant bend the shells togather.
eastx
Okay, but how easily can the sticker be peeled off and reapplied? Any tips???
Zorak666
Maybe you could use WD-40 or Goo-gone to peel it off? But then you might not be able to reapply it.

I will not tolerate any more posts about stickers and pealing them off and reapplying them on another case to keep your warranty. If you want to take the stickers and mess with them on your own that fine with me but this post will not become another post about removing serial and warranty stickers with out breaking them and putting them back on so you can keep your warranty.

Closed, this post is in the tutorials sections so I dont see the need to keep it open for discussion.
