Hey everyone.

Just got into the Gamecube modding scene a couply days ago. Really wanted to try GC linux (linux fanboy), and the experience that comes with it. I just had purchased a Radio Shack 15W s.i., and tried soldering wires to IC legs, points, etc on spare boards. OK, anyway, ill just give some tips that might confuse a n00b, but is actually there to help.

-Have to purchase Game bit, BIC pen technique will NOT work.
-When opening, save the screws by steps, for example the first four screws are Step 1, and so on.
-THE MOST IMPORTANT TECHNIQUE (FOR REVISION C, because thats the one I have)
-YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE HEATSINK. Just unscrew the 6 screws, and solder just like thats. Its a royal pain to take off, so better to leave it alone. Saves you 20 min. I successfully installed my Qoob SX with the HSK on.

Bic pen worked for me on 3 gamecubes. Dont see how it could possibly not work, too simple. I did burn the shit out of myself with melting plasitc though. I did use my dremel to notch the scres similar to that of a blade screwdriver, worked ok, but I would rather the phillips. Just havent got around to fucking with opening it again. The acctuall tools are lawyas nice to have though biggrin.gif

The heat sink was super easy to get off for me. Glad to know your Qoob is up and running, My qoob pro and XCM case are pretty jammin. Easiest chip to intall and flash on the planet I think. Took me 12 minutes to install - minus the bic pen part.

Long live the GC

Speaking of where is the bad ass GC homebrew I have only found like 5 apps so far.

yeah I love my modded GC smile.gif

I originally had a DOL-101 but I exchanged it through Nintendo for a DOL-001 with the component video "Digital AV" port so I could use it with my HD Projector. I'd definitely recommend looking into doing that if you ever plan on getting VGA or Progressive scan out of the console... because once it's modded you loose that option.

I didn't have to worry about the pen trick because I just happened to have the proper bits laying around smile.gif It was a super easy install though, it took me longer to take the damn thing apart then it did to actually install the chip. laugh.gif
