I bought my Xbox in Korea, but I have since moved back to North America.

Rather than spending $50+ on something that will change the power, can I switch the power supply or something? I have a couple old boxes around here with working power supplies.. Is this possible? Is it an easy process? What things do I have know in order to switch them

Thanks for the feedback.

Most xbox power supplies work on both 110 and 220. I'm not sure if it requires anything special to do this however, so I wouldn't plug it in just yet. Someone a little more knowledgable on this should probably confirm this first.

You can switch power supplies assuming they're compatible.

For example a 1.0-1.1 power supply is interchangable,
A 1.2-1.5 power supply is interchangable and can be modified to work with a 1.0-1.1 with an adapter

And a 1.6 power supply will only work with a 1.6 xbox, no way to change this (1.6 b includes)

So can I just switch it out with another Xbox 1.0 power supply? Doing that, and changing the power chord will work???

I've taken quite a few xboxs apart, but haven't removed power supplies. Is it a quick process?

All you have to do is take out the 2 screws holding it in, and unplug the power connectors from the motherboard and hard drive. Super easy.

Yup, all the power supply does is convert alternating current (AC, either 110 or 220) to Directed current (DC, 12v, 5v, 3.3v) It's a universal thing and the only variation is if it can handle the 110 or 220v.

I really don't think you need to change anything since the PSU's are rated for both 220 and 110v. Check to see if the plug style is the same as a 110v style.

Swapping them is also really easy like rush340 said.

id reccomend the swap, just incase.
