Wow the Matrix has just been released and its 5.3 friken GIGS!!
Although Epsylon used incredible compression to make it 50*57 it will take forever to get hold on. I am not sure on the actual release date for the game but Im definately going to go buy it! It won't fit on a DVD-R and i really dont have that much space left on my HD for one game.
It looks amazing, shame all i can see are previews and not reviews! Plus of course, games like this you need an instruction booklet, have you SEEN some of the moves you can pull off! I hope it hasnt' been over-hyped

if i remember correctly the pc version will have 6 cds

i for one am glad that its only on hd and not downsampled to please the people who didnt replace the hd. i will have to try this cause i dont know too much about it if its worth buying or not. cause of course i never pirate any games because thats wrong.

I am having trouble transfering it to my hard drive, there are some text files in there that wont transfer a lot of text files.

Anybody any ideas?

can't you just rename the files, transfer it to the xbox, then use boxplorer to rename the files back to normal?

This is awesome, I just downloaded the Animatrix DVD this moring, I hope the movies are all there and full quality

Its actually working for me without the 40 files across there, I just got to level 3 the driving bit, I assume its going to crash at some point though due to the missing files

Seems everyone is getting problems with the txt files. If you want an 100% working version i guess you have to get Confusions DVD5 release and burn it to a DVD-R. Nice play testing Epsylon

is it that the hardrive cannot have files with long names, or that they cant transfer it the harddrive. (cause what if you find another way to get them on the harddrive i.e burn to a cd and use boxplorer? i doubt that will work but im just asking.

Yeah I raised this point initially. There is a limitation in the filename/directory depth that could easily be exploited to deter (but not eliminate as there are ways around this!) duplication.

what are some ways to get around it?

why not use avalaunch and its special file system (or am i dumb?)

EDIT : Wow? is muerte wrong, or can you just use Avalaunch's ftp to send it all to the HD? Cuz thats what they're saying over at Nforce.

how is the game play for the matrix anyway, is it worth all the trouble? I heard that there was supposed to be a huge online gaming environment for which to live/play in and that is was going to be "the game" by which all other online games would be judged.

couldnt someone make app that could open xbox ISOs and play them creating some kind of virtual drive? should cure the filename problem

I dont understand how they can fit a 5.3 gigabyte game on a 4.7 gigabyte disc..,..

they can't, that's why they use dvd-9

go get the latest build of Avalaunch [currently 0.43] and just xfer the effects directory to the xbox


newb guide:
. download avalaunch 0.43
. put it on your xbox
. launch it
. in flashfxp log into the xbox [same l/p as evox uses *xbox/xbox*]
. make sure your "when file exists" are "auto skip" for all three upload fields (so it just skips the stuff you already have copied)
. transfer the /effects directory from your harddrive to the xbox's /effects directory

mine boots fine... and plays fine as far as I can see.. got through like 3 levels so far..

and does avaluanch not fix it?

is it the ftp server part of the dashboard that doesn't allow it or the OS?

are you using the original release? or the dvdrip?

It doesn't matter what version we all use, both have the long file names. The only difference is that Confusions release fits onto a DVD-R (ripped out 3 movies) so that it is actually playable.
I'm hopeful that a fix to the filename problem on the HD will arise soon...

cant you copy the long nameed files to a cd-rw as udf or gdf and just use xbcopy/boxplorer/etc to copy from the disc to their destination?

Were the movies they ripped out in game movies? Or just junk movies that you don't really need? I hate not having al lthe ingame movies;)

NO! FATX doesnt support the long filenames, its nothing to do with the method of getting the files to your xbox. FATX2 (avalaunches filesystem) requires support be written into the app to use long file names, i somehow doubt the creators of the game were kind enough to do that for us

I don't get it... why would the xbox be able to read the long files from a disc, if it can't read them from the hdd?

because the HD is FATX and the DVD is not .
