which update? the 6.6.7 one? because in the patch notes on their website says they fixed it
Souske
I wish I could play this game again to try the new patch.

My 360 decided yesterday, to finally f up it's first game. I wish it had picked like Quake 4 and not Oblivion :-( . I suppose it was bound to happen with all of the usage that disc got though.

send it to MS immedatley!! the scratching only gets worse!

I got the update, no more dupe item with arrows glitch... Unless....

This is what I did.

I logged into the 360 dashboard
- moved my profile to a memory card (Saved game was already on the card)
-removed the hard drive
-booted oblivian, did not accept the update
-duplicated the items that I wanted
-saved game again, to card
-turned off 360, replaced HD
-played game with duplicated items

Pain in the but, It worked biggrin.gif
Morlok8k
i started getting the update, but then thought, "hmm... no more gold glitch, last chance!" so i canceled it before it finished, got plenty of gold, and updated.
Foolio187
Has there been any improvement to the frame rate, or general smoothness of the game?
Morlok8k
yea, gameplay seems to be smoother and doesnt lag as much. except the loading screens are even slower, and it might pause for a second or 2 when going through different map tiles in the same area.

oh, but the loading extra content screen is much shorter now.

another thing: I once had an "Adoring Fan" following me around because i'm the great and mighty Grand Champion of the Arena. He had died though. after this update he came back to life and surprised the hell out of me when he suddenly showed up while i was walking through town!
mikedavis2838
The adoring fan will always respawn outside the arena if he should die.

Also, I can still dupe using the bow and arrow after installing the update.
JethroTul
who knows if that stupid guy that had to take to Gray Mare will now follow.biggrin.gif had a second problem with another quest with that guy roland that the love letter never appeared in his house...but I dont see them listed as bugs sorted so for the time being I would prefer the dupe then the update biggrin.gif

that kid always comes back, even before the update. he is annoying

EDIT: oops- someone already said that.

slidellsimba2
i updated and with nothing more than playing the game i was still able to do the gold exploit in the cure for vampirism trick, as well as dupe items..... was this supposed to be in the ms update or is there one for oblivion as well???
lowendfrequency
I duped about 300 Azura's Stars and put them in a chest before I updated, just in case. The update seems to improve a few things like framerate and loading times. Also, it now clears the cache every time you play... so we don't have to hold down A anymore.
ebphondaprelude
dupe items no more working here :-(
metaldevil
I don't understand the fascination with duplicating items. I never read how to duplicate items the regular way, but by setting my repair hammer to a hotkey, the game accidentally duplicated several of my items as I repaired them. I found it to be very annoying. I have no less than 5 Umbra swords. I have many duplicates of quest-specific weapons and armor.

Sure, I can sell the extra crap, but it's not like the game withholds money from you. You can find items to sell in dungeons and caves for great prices and boost your mercantile skill at the same time. I don't understand why so many are crying about the fix for item duplication.

I'm glad Bethesda are getting off their collective asses to fix problems that should not have made it in the final game. $60 is too fucking much to pay for a beta version. At least, the FFXI beta was free with a copy of February's OXM.

The update fixed all the glitches but this quest is still not fixed.....wtf...i still can't finish up the fighter's guild quest.....if i knew this wouldn't work....i wouldn't even bother to update.
slidellsimba2
i just skipped the update.... when i logged on a few hours ago, i had an update notification.... and i just optd to not use it and all i had to worry about is not being signed onto live while i play......OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH
JU1CYFRU1T
On the original Xbox, the updates were store in with the normal game saves, so if you didn't want it anymore, you could just delete it.

Is there a way to "undo" the auto update from the HDD? The file has to save somewhere. Does anyone know how to remove the auto update?
sp3cialk
OK I'm confused.... I've seen different people say you can and can't dupe anymore.... so what's the real deal on this?

some people are just hopeless..... dry.gif

why don't you find out for yourself and update biggrin.gif .

It surprises me that so many people on here are actually complaining about the glitches being corrected in the new update. What's the point of paying $60 for a glitchy game? As soon as I connect to live (yes, I haven't been on there for some reason in the past couple days), the first thing I'm doing is putting in Oblivion to fix the many glitches that I found apparent, as I think glitches, beneficial or not, take away from the game.
JU1CYFRU1T
If you downloaded the update, but don't want it anymore you can go into the memory tab and select the HDD. Press y... then press x,x,left shoulder, right shoulder, x, x and it will get rid of the update. Here is the link that I found this info out from (I don't want to take credit for someone elses find).

I went ahead and completed the Clavicus Vile (who dreams up these stupid names?) Daedric quest. The game glitched again, but it didn't freeze. In its stead, the game "let" me keep the five Umbra swords, and I received the Masque of Clavicus Vile. I'm, at least, grateful that the swords weigh nothing because the game won't let me unequip, drop or sell them. sleep.gif

I dont really care bout the dupe glitch..looking forward to downloadin this when i get home rolleyes.gif
EzEkIeL362
it works fine for me, i can still dupe. muhaha.gif

regardless of the ability to dupe or not, everyone should download this update. Oblivion runs smoother and loads faster. Why would anyone pass that up? Dupe a ton of shit, put it in your house and then update.

Some people got a system update and thought it was the Oblivion update. This update had nothing to do with Oblivion and as such did not alter the ability to duplicate. These people jumped the gun and claimed that the Oblivion update did not fix the dupe glitch. What the Oblivion update did NOT do was remove already duped items. I have never duped items except to test it and I reloaded after that. I am glad they fixed it because of the fact that IT IS A BUG!

As for the body not reappearing after the update... those kinds of fixes require you to begin a new game. At this point the body is already gone so the fix won't apply. Bethesda support representatives have stated that the intent was to fix glitches for "new" games.

umm NO, I got the system update messed with it for a while, then started oblivion up and updated, I am still able to dupe items. Just to make sure i took oblivion out, restarted and put it in, no prompt for update, and still able to dupe items.

Actually, it does the opposite for me. Framerate seems to be lower, whenever I try to loot something, the dialog takes forever to appear and it freezes a LOT more often than it did before the update. Damn.

What's the point of having 300 Azura's Stars? Is it so you can sell them to get money? 'Cos you only really need one.

Same. I think the guy is just doing the dupe glitch wrong. From what i've heard, the bow/arrow combo doesn't work anymore (havent personally tried it due to hearing that's the way the update patched it), but I have done it with swords and battle axes.

For those who don't know, you start with arrows unequipped, sword/axe out and equipped. Then you swing your weapon and press B so it goes to the menu with the weapon in the center of the screen (where you'd have a crosshair). Equip the arows you want (the more you have, the more you get. dont do over 200) then press A one more time on them. It'll say you can't equip while attacking. After that, drop the item you want to dupe. The weapon hits it at the same time you drop it, and your duped item scatters in front of you.

i just got the update but i can still dupe which is fine by me. the problem is the thieves guild quest is screwed up. im on the part that i have to get the ring from the countess. ive waited for a total of over a month game time checking every 2 days or so and the ring is never there. i go back and talk to the kajit that started the quest and she says its not good enough that the countess DOESNT have it, and i need to find it. wtf i didnt even touch it or see it so how does the countess not have it. the green marker arrow is still over the jewelry box. what gives??
RighteousJack
When we played that mission, my gf wa also doing the mission for some daedric shrine that fucked it up for her. She finally got her into bed and then the damn ring wasnt in the box. It was still on her finger, anyways I think she hit her and had her chase her outside then pickpocketed her and found she could actually steal the ring...so she did.
