How do I extract the textures from .xpr files? I'd like to use the backgrounds in some XBMC scripts to fit them to MC360. TIA

It's impossible, I'm afraid. Well, not impossible, someone could recode XBMC to extract them, but it's against every rule in the book.

The most common script background is background3.png or background-apps.png try using either of those and see if it works out for you.

atm, MC360 uses background.png, if needed and requested enough, we can include a background-apps.png and background3.png

create the control without a reference to a path and it uses the current skins media.
image1 = xbmcgui.ControlImage(0,0,720,576,"image.png")
I made a post asking if Blackbolt would post the filenames with thumbnails for scripters to see which image to use. A simple screenshot of thumbview in mS explorer would work. He didn't respond, but it's not too hard to find what you need by reading the xml files.

nuka there are thousands of posts on this forum since release.
I have gotten through as many as I can while still working on the skin and having a personal life.
We are working on a manual which will tell everyone all these kinds of questions. There will be a scripters section too.

I know, I had a post that moved back to page six in one day.
It isn't as difficult finding the images I need as I thought it would be. The descriptions in the xml's help and filenames seem to have a useful pattern.
Though, the manual would be very helpful.
Thanks

You can always use
http://xbmcskineditor.xbox-scene.com, it supports MC360, now, and you can see the textures, although they are downgraded, you can see there size and positioning etc.

Well that app is in very early beta, but you can see inside the XPR's with it!

Does the skin editor allow you to pack up your own images in to an .xpr? All of the background and theme packs that people are releasing are amazing, but it gets a little tedious selecting all of the images for each tab (and backing out to see what it looks like is just a little more tedious

). The work on this skin is amazing, and please don't misunderstand and think I'm complaining. I was just wondering if I could throw some of these backgrounds in to an .xpr myself and be able to switch themes and change all of the tabs at once "on the fly" I guess you could say. TIA

It seems that the Skin Editor can't read background* files. They're whole transparent... Most images are displayed correctly, but backgrounds aren't.
