Hi, I'm going to buy a maxtor 120GB HDD.
Does it matter if I get it in the retail box from costco? Or can i just get it cheaper without the box (oem or watever) at the local parts dealer?
will they both work the same?

Retail box = cables, manual, drivers, mounting hardware, etc..
OEM = bare drive..
Manuals are available online if you need them, so go OEM if it's cheaper.
You don't need any of the other stuff for Xbox.

Best Buy has a 100 GB Maxtor that comes with 20 extra GBs so it is actually a 120 GB HD. It sells for $139 but has a $30 mail-in rebate so thats $109 for a 120 GB lockable Maxtor 7200 RPM HD.
So long,
