ARGH!!!!

got home from work to see this free offer... signed up and received code... no problems. Then spend the next hour friggin around with my comp trying to install the hard drive correctly... done. Start program to then find that the code doesn't work because the offer has just expired. !#$!#$%!#$%!!!!!!!

so close to unlocking the 300gig brick i've had lying around for so long.

any chance you will be having any more free days in the future hddunlock? please pretty please?

hddunlock
For those who wanted a free unlock:

I am so sorry to tell you that there will be no more free unlocks of drives >20GB. I have posted my first message, I believe, a week ago... Now all free codes are erased, and we cannot issue free codes anymore.

I think we did everything fair (Free service for people who help us test the product).

Sooooo, I can just abort this unlocking of my HDD that's gonna take 8 minutes if I'm not planning on paying?

Sorry, I cannot understand, what do you mean?

yesterday I got a code for a 80gig to unlock a 10 gig locked hdd (its the code that seemed to work best for me)

about 7 hours ago it stopped working hard and has been sitting at 4 minutes remaining ever since then.

Do the codes expire "during" the unlocking process?

if I cancel it at this point and restart with a 20 gig code, is there a chance of doing more damage than good?

dont get your panies in a bunch, just because you didnt get you 15 minutes of fame which you wanted doesnt mean you can throw a hissy fit. btw, buddy, if your getting worked up, its the internet. sure it can be emotional at times, but really who cares? maybe go take your anger out by tossing some worthless junk out your 2nd story window(aka: ps2's or gamecubes). if your that attention hungy, go wear black all the time or start wearing makeup *cough* emo *cough*. Its guaranteed to get some attention be it negative or positive. I mean, if you're really looking to get the attention you want, the last place to try for it is at a forum. rolleyes.gif

So you're the greedy bastard who took most of the unlock codes?

Look at this post:
QUOTE(hddunlock @ Jun 13 2006, 09:47 PM) *

Guys,

Actually, several days ago I have started a topic on this forum about our project, but it wasn't noticed...

Let me comment about the codes. Many of you have noticed that our system sent empty codes.
That is because some guys wanted hundreds of them (for some reason),
so they got'em all. Codes just needed a refill :-).

So not only do you get pissed off because someone else stole your 15 minutes of fame (more like 15 seconds), but you also stole most of the codes and made it difficult for other people to get them.

Congratulations for being an idiot.

I rebooted like havoc said and now I have a perfectly good hard drive to play around with!

YAY! thanks havoc, XS, and HDDunlock.com!

Wow, I just missed out. By the time I got my HD to be setup on my computer the offer expired. I have a 30 gig HD that I locked like 3 years ago. Too big to get if free, oh well. At least it looks like it's ony gonna cost 10 bucks to unlock it which is pretty good. I wish I found out about this when the promotion started. Too bad some goof took a bunch of codes and messed things up for everyone.
onslaught_789
the code for under 20 gb is HDDUNLOCK
xb0xb0y
worked great!!! had an old locked WD 8gb xbox drive left over after a mobo fragged. unlocked it for free since it was under 20gb. did it in about 5 minutes! loaded up the drive as 2nd channel master and worked like a charm. too bad you can't unlock the drive without wiping everything off it. oh well.

Hey guys,
I just want to say thanks to whom ever found out that hdunlock was being offered free. Once i got off work got a key code and connect two year old hDD to my pc and walla now it is unlock. it was lock when my xbox gave up on me. Now i am using it on one of my computer.
Bubbalynch
Ok so let me get this straight here...

The free trial period is over with. Yet it will still unlock drives under 20 GB for free? Or do u have to pay for that too?

Im looking on their website and not seeing anything about it, maybe im blind.

BTW, nice work HDDunlock. Your software will hopefully be cracked and pirated soon. Im looking forward to it anyways... you understand. smile.gif

Hahaha, cracked by who, you? laugh.gif Guess again, the program is just a front-end, all the unlocking procedures reside safe on their server. This means it would be useless to "crack" the program because you'd still need to have the database for all the different models.

This company did lots of research to support al lot of HDD brands/models, offered free testing for more than a month, even ANNOUNCED their test on a site where they know a lot of people have trouble with HDD locks, and now decide to allow free unlocks for HDD's under 20 gB (that means a lot of Seagate 310014ACE's).

No, these guys do good work for their money, and sad enough for all the piracy lamerz here they've chosen an excellent security scheme. I hope you all keep your bricked 300 gB until they're worth $0,- still living in the hope someone will crack the program someday smile.gif
stalkster420
i am very pleased with this program. it's nice that they still unlock hdd's 20gb or less for free.
there larger keys are not really that much.

Unlocking drives up to 20 GB.
Price: FREE

Unlocking one drive up to 80 GB.
Price: $9.95

Unlocking one drive up to 160 GB.
Price: $14.95

Unlocking one drive up to 250 GB.
Price: $19.95

Unlocking one drive up to 320 GB.
Price: $24.95

Unlocking one drive up to 500 GB.
Price: $29.95

so worse thing you have a 500gb hdd and you have to pay $30. ya but how many of us have 500gb hdd's in are xboxs? exactly.........
250gb is more likely which is $20bucks so thats not bad.

remember if you would of made a backup of your eeprom you would'nt need this. so its kinda your fault, unless you got put in my situation and bought a hdd and it was locked(some of those great ebay sellers)
and as far as hacking this program for all code's to be free. it would not be worth it.
why.......
1. $20 is not bad to fix a 250gb hdd.....
2. most people that have locked hdd's are the stock one's(and it free to unlock a hdd under 20gb)
3. why waste your time if your going to hack a hdd unlocking program do one that dose not kill everything on the drive. so you get to keep all your data.

when i first looked into getting the hdd i bought off ebay unlocked all the programs i found were all way to pricey$$$. so just pay for it, or better yet keep that hdd a brick so many options with that choice( door stop, paper weight, self defense projectile, many more)

so i just wont to give a big thanks to hddunlock and there team. they made a very affordable unlocking program........

Well seems like I missed the boat due to certain mobo's giving me HD error - press F4 to resume and then not finding the locked HD at all when xp finally boots up

Finally digs out an old mobo/PC with win2k which works but now the code HDDUNLOCK is invalid sad.gif

A bit of a shame, got 3 locked xbox hd's that seem like they are going the same place as other xbox paperweights - in the bin - hardly worth paying 3 x $3 to unlock them - when I can get a 250gb cheaply.

Oh well - shit happens, my fault for not getting my finger out sooner it seems - well done to HDDUNLOCK / A-FF Data Recovery and all the other members that got it working sooner than me

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email,

We were giving people the ability to use the service for free when it
was beta. So there were bugs, crashes, etc... Now it is finally
released and it is now a stable program, so there is no reason for us
to give away free unlocks.

Last week we have finally switched to only accept keys which were
bought through PayPal or Share-It, so our system does not allow free keys
anymore...

Well at least they did reply to my email in 24hrs......

Bit of a shame they shut the door last week for xbox hd's sad.gif

BUT I can report back that the smaller xbox hd's can be unlocked as the llama site says.

http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Unlocking%20Sea...ard%20Drive.htm

done the WD 8gb - woohoo

done the black jacket seagate 10gb - wow that was quick

all without needing an internet connection

just the 10.2gb I need to build a serial board for but probably bin it

funny that llamma still says it's free for xbox drives when alas it no longer is

still saved me 2 HD's for free

pity hddunlock is no longer free for xbox drives or at least some discount but there ya go

don't think the drive is worth much more unlocked so lets see how far I can throw it

wooooossssssssshhhhhhhhhh
grogger13
does anybody know if there is another utility that can do this. Their concept is ridiculous that i have to pay per hard drive. I should only have to pay for the software.
Alex548
Yeah, they sell unlimited license unlocking software, but expect to pay upwards of $1,000 for it.
If you're lucky, you'll find yearly license (w/unlimited use).

What's wrong with forking over a few bucks to unlock a hard drive? It's cheaper to unlock it than to buy a new one.
grogger13
1.Im cheap

2.It just seams like i could do it for free

3.If it doesn't work i'll lose twenty bucks

I guess i'll have to buy the card, but it looks like this is a windows application, how can i use it on my xbox harddrive. The website is pretty shitty
