Hi,
We all want to have the correct media, so testing is the only way to get this work..
Post all your media results here.. I will update the thread with a compatability list.

Nice, i would say we will do it this way:
MEDIA USED: Brand here
BURNED WITH: Brand here
MEDIA WORKS AS MOVIE: yes/no
It would be nice to know when the MEDIA works for DVD Movies and Games!!! (Maybee to find a bug in the patched xtreme firmware!)
PS: Mine cheapest Ritek works for the movies, will try it now for games!

With MOVIE i meant that you burned a DVD-Movie or Data on that type of Media wich works on your hitachi drive.
Conclusion: When the Movie works on your hitachi drive then a game burned on that media should work to. Now we want to find out that this conclusion is true.
Ritec DVD+R 4,7GB works on my hitachi for movies. Heard that Ritec DVD+R DL wont work.
I also got some Problem with a ORIGINAL DVD Movie Terminator 2 Extended Edition Disc 1. The Drive sometime wont recognize the Disc. Next day i tried it worked.
The Hitachi seems to be a bitch!

Is there a timing problem in the xtreme firmware??

actually since neither verbatims and traxdata are working am a bit shaky if not to put the firmware or not since might be a waste of time and if they do something for live will loose it for nothing

Did someone in here used the KIOSK DISC on the hitachi??
When yes, did you used the same media to backup your games?
Mhh, why should this media now dont work!?!?!?!
Did we find a big bug in the xtreme firmware???
Can someone proof the KIOSK DISC THEORY?

KIOSK DISC was dvd5 on a dvd-r format, was it not?
Herrnobiz
Jun 15 2006, 02:02 PM
Yes, kiosk disc was a dvd5 indeed
hjw@broadpark.no
Jun 15 2006, 02:04 PM
Yes, u cant compare dvd5 media to dual layer media, remember that.
If youve burned the kiosk disc on a dual layer verbatim disc, and it works, then try to burn a backup on the same brand of dual layer disc, only then can u realy get an acurate comparison.
My king kong dvd, wich is burned on a dl verbatim worked fine, a backup burned on the exact same disc brand, didnt work. So im thinking maybe there is a bug in the firmware hack :/

I tend to think the same as hjw@broadpark.no there should not be so many problems with media. You can hear the lens freaking out trying to focus for sure putting strain the the Laser diode.

Hello! I'd say welcome to me and to my first post

Well actually I did some tests as I both own a samsung x360 and an lg one; both succesfully hacked with Commodore4Eva excellent products; actually the samsung works fine and fast with any kind of media; I tested Memorex, Six, Datasafe and Verbatim (this is the only one who can be burned at high speed, it takes just 14mins to complete a copy with my pioneer dvr111d).
With the Hitachi I confirm loads of troubles; the ONLY and ONLY media who works among those written above is the verbatim...both at low and high speed (same result): the drives reads almost always when I turn off the console and turn it on with the game inside, and it almost never reads if I put the disc in while the console is on; but I guess it's also a matter of game itself.. the game Xmen runs always, while Project gotham almost never. I read about the movies tests etc; testing a dvdr4.7gb makes no sense, as the main hitachi problem is reading dvd DL and not regular dvdr4.7; so it is not usefull to test a memorex 4.7gb with a movie, check if it works and then compare the issue with the memorex +DL; dvds 4.7 can be easily read byt the hitachi, the real good test to check if all those reading troubles are caused by the hacked firmware or the drive itself is to to burn a dvd9 movie and see if it works; I will do it tomorrow and let you know here (if someone already did it, please tell me as I'll save a dvd9 media

), and, if works, burn a game with the exactly same dvd+dl media you used for the movie
cheers

this is gettin kinda ridiculous lol. there must be something that can be edited in the firmware to make it more stable when reading discs...or maybe its just the 47D firmware was bad to begin with?

Just a friendly reminder from us undeservingly happy Sammy users that:
- Dirty disc error can be invalid Security Sector error.
- Discs need to be bitset to DVD-ROM.
So not all "unreadable" errors are bad media. Good luck.

It is worth noting that I haven't downloaded the feature-huge update from Live yet and at this rate, I'm not going to either. Read some stories that more dirty disc errors were occuring after installing it. Don't know how true they are but I don't wanna chance anything.
Hope you guys have better luck than you've been having.

Does anybody else get this message?

I burn the game using clonecd and SS merger 1.6 for proper SS file. When I insert in the console I get the above message.

It now seems that the perfect way to get properly patch games to work every time, i start the console with the disc already in there, do not run it when console is already on, it wont read it. Dont know why this makes a difference but this method has worked all the time so far with Verbatim and Datawrite Titanium.
Just my thoughts

That's usually a bad backup, retry backing up, makesure you back up using your XBOX drive not a normal pc drive

Could I eliminate any firmware wrongdoings then? I used the xtreme.bat to patch up my drive and all the steps said Done! It wouldn't have anything to do with the drive key on my drive? It also boots my real games just fine.

if it says put it in a 360 means you screwed up the key right?
if it says error reading means bad firmware/drive/disc! lol, bad ss, or bad dump?

This is what I did:
memdump_win j 12200 8 8000 firmware.bin
where j is the driver windows assigned to the dvd drive
after this i ran xtreme.bat
all steps said done!
originals boot fine, but none of the backups
if my originals work, doesn't this mean the drive is fine?

Well, I think it's almost impossible to destroy your X360 DVD key with a Toshiba.
The reason is quite simple: you don't read/modify/write it, you just patch other pieces of DVD firmware...
At least, this is what I've understood.
Anyway there's another thing I'd like to know...
When XBox/XBox360 copy protection infos came out something popped out about timings/lacency.
This kind of code was X360 only, so XBox DVD are "immune" to read/seek checks.
If this is true probably we're wasting our time searching the right media that make the Hitachi read as fast/slow as a Samsung.
A better idea is try with a XBox "SS enabled" DVD; if they work flawlessy (for the above reasons) then we've to use only "Hitachi-extracted" DVD backup, since "Samsung-extracted" DVD backups have different read times.

I have two 360's one has a TS and one has a hitachi 47DH
I have three backups that work great on my TS. All are verbatim 2.4x burnt discs. All three do not work on my hitachi. Original games work great with the hitachi so I know the flash worked correctly. I will test with some memorex backups when I get home tonight and update...
A quick thought...
If a backup only reads 1 out of 3 times you would think that it would skip (movies/streaming music) while the games is playing due to the laser not liking the disc. Since I havent read of any reports of this happening I would think the problem has to do with the SS and the drive not reading it correctly because once a disc boots on the hitachi (from all reports) it works 100%.
I know its not an original idea but I think thats why its not working as well as the TS drives.

Xbox "SS enabled" DVD would be burnt to a regular DVD5 disc and would not solve anything.
ConteZero76

If the title you're trying is ripped with a Samsung and has a "samsung" SS then maybe it's only work with Samsung drives.
To have a PROOF of this idea the easiest way is take a XBOX DVD5 "SS enabled" DVD and try it on a Toshiba.
Since XBox1 has no read/seek calibration thingies within his DVD authentication code it should work on a Toshiba like it works on a Samsung.
This is only a TRY, and surely is CHEAPEST than burning DVD+DL trying to catch the perfect match.
If XBox1 DVD5 works you've to make separate SS, one for Samsung and one for Toshiba. END.

exactly...if they're learning how to make EVERY type of media compatible (in other words tracking down the problem with the hitachi drives, or maybe a problem with the xtreme hitachi firmware (although this was only brought up briefly)) why shouldn't they be?
if they can solve the problem and saves time/money for other people who are doing the testing, why wouldn't you want them to?

Jun 16 2006, 12:21 AM
Ok easy test for some that has a spare dvd+r dl and does not... repeat does not have a pioneer drive. Burn a movie onto it use bit setting. If the bastard boots then its the firmware. I have a feeling com was rushed to get this out. He also stated he couldn't test it himself... other people may have. So find a dvd9 movie do an exact copy and give it a shot. Process of elimination.
