Did you disable RAID in your bios!? Did you remove the ribbon cables from ALL other devices except floppy?? are you using MTKFLASHVIA.exe??
patricksull
1. I have posted a couple of times that I don't know how to disable RAID on this controller. I have contacted the manufacturer and have not heard back. There is no place to adjust those settings in bio setup utility.

2. No, but I will now.

3. what is MTKFLASHVIA.exe? I'm assuming it is a hexed version. Where oh where could I get that?

first off you need to find the mtkflashvia.exe ( read the forums )

when you boot up your xbox have the dvd drive connected to the xbox untill it reaches the dash, boot your pc with everything disabled ( no need to unplug anything ) once you get to the prompt switch your dvd drive lead from the xbox to the pci card

then run mtkflash (but the edited on)

On my motherboard MTKFlash was hanging if I had my IDE cables connected. (Even with it disbaled in BIOS and the power connectors removed)

Here are other tipes that have worked for people to try and a link to MTKFLASHVIA.

You sure your have the right string? To read firmware:

mtkflashvia r /m /sata orig.bin

To write firmware

mtkflashvia w /m /sata xtreme.bin

(obviously with your own filenames)
patricksull
yes...I have tried every combo. I do not own a sata hdd, so I can't try connecting a sata device to the sata controller during boot. Not sure what else to try? This is what I have done:

-went into bios setup utility and disabled ata/ide drives
-made boot disc with the four files listed in tutorial (except I used mtkflashvia instead of the original non-hexed)
-unplugged all IDE cables from motherboard except floppy
-turn on pc and xbox without any sata cable attached to either
-at A:> prompt, I hooked up sata cable and hit enter
-pc says choose 1. IDE or 2. Via6421sata
-I choose 2. and then get the following:

flash type: "SST(395F020)"

fail to open input file
