I'm wondering if anyone wants MC360 fitted with the MyTV script. I've added background from the Movie Trailers, changed some colors and the position of the footer. I've also added a button on the Media blade which is displayed when the MC360 Guide is disabled.

I don't know if it works with 720p, NTSC, etc., because I have only PAL 4:3 TV...

Some people wanted me to post here the files so here it is.

The package consists of two files:
- myTV.py
- mytvLibrary.py

The most important is myTV.py. I've changed the background of the script. Now it's same as the one in the Movie Trailers script. I've also changed the position of the footer and color of the font used in the channel list on the left. You have to set overscan-left to 99 in the config menu. I didn't change it because it's easy to do in the menu.

If you have a problem with fonts of the EPG (they're too wide), you can try to overwrite the mytvLibrary.py file in the system directory with the one from the package. The fonts should now look good if set to font10 (you can do this in the menu).

Of course, remember to make a backup before overwriting the files.

I'm posting this here, because I want somebody to check how it works on different Xboxes and TVs. I have only one Xbox and PAL 4:3 TV. Please let me know if this mod works.

Thanks heaps mate, looks great have made it so when i click on the weather card in the media blade tv guide comes up now it is fits alot better with what you have done. One thing is need now Having Tv Guide as the title down the side of the blade.

But this is still great.

um...how come when I click on it nothing happens? It says (Running) briefly then nothing. I have it in the Scripts folder.

Hi, First you need to make sure you have the whole of the My Tv script if you dont get it here:
My Tv
Then unzip to your scripts folder then copy the files you got from this thread into the my tv folder. this one (myTV.py) goes here scripts\myTV\myTV.py and the other (mytvLibrary.py) goes here scripts\myTV\System\myTV.py. Then it should go fine. But if not delete your XBMC save in game saves then reboot xbox from there it will be all go. also if you want the MC360 Guide button to be mytv as i have let me no and i will post the .XML file for you.

Here is the files you need just replace the xmls and put the MyTv script in the Script folder and your done. I have also included a readme if you need it.

But how did you get the little TV icon on yours? I looked at the home.xml and it is still labeled with the 360globe.

I am still trying to find a suitable Icon for the button so for now that is it if you find one and want to change it be my guest help is all good as i am new to the whole xml thing. If you find a cool icon then post it and i will fit it

Yeah, I am using the little computer monitor from appearance, under system, but in the first post I see a little TV with antenas. Mike i! Where did you get that?

Hi - Like mayto - I'd like the home and includes files re-posted if you have them ? - ive upgraded my skin version and have lost the TV Guiide on my front page !! Nightmare !

Or if anyone has a 'simple' guide to either change MC360 guide to another button or add a button to the media blade ?!?? :-)

Sorted - these files need to overwright the exisiting home and includes files of the most recent version - but will put the TV guide on your home screen.. (presumes that the script is installed to scripts/mytv/mytv.py)

It screwed up my LiveMark blade though...

hum.. sorry bout that - maybe some clash in the incudes.xml file... all that is done is that the remote button (MC360 Guide) points to the script.. perhaps its because its an old .xml version or this other mod does something to the files as well - unfortunatley I dont know anything about the Livemark blade...

I may upload a newer version of this, this weekend - which inculdes the animation that is used on the blades when the trailers are launched..

yeah, it's most likely the includes file that is being messed up. i haven't completely look at this package to be sure, but if it's the includes file, it wouldn't be hard to fix. i would download the livemark mod, find the includes, and add the lines from this mod.

Is it possible you could post the code and explain in simple terms what needs to be replaced (and so forth)? I enjoyed your idea with placing the TV Guide shortcut there, but I really want to use the livemark blade as well.

Or maybe this is something that is easy to fix with the skineditor? I've never given it a try, but maybe I should?

Yip - as i understand there is a new version of the skin out tomorrow, so will be making those chanegs again - so will list the changes needed on here - that way people can update themsleves and hopefully wont interfere with other mods...

this is just skin alterationfor the script which is hosted on xbmcscripts - i didnt write it, but yes.. it works for the US

Is there a better tv guide on there than zap2it. That's the one I'm using right now. It shows the stations, but not the channel number.

ok - how to edit the files step by step so you can do it yourself:

in home.xml

scroll down until you find the section below <!-- CONTEXT BUTTON FOR REMOTE CONTROL USERS -->

about 30 lines down change:

<onclick>XBMC.ActivateWindow(114)</onclick>

to

<onclick>XBMC.RunScript(Q:\scripts\mytv\mytv.py)</onclick>

this assumes that the mytv script is in your scripts directory - change if not...


then in includes.xml ...

change the line:

<include name="190071"><label>MC360 Guide</label></include>

to

<include name="190071"><label>TV Guide</label></include>


and change:

<include name="19150"><label>Open the Guide Blade, to access the extras and shutdown menu.</label></include>


to

<include name="19150"><label>TV Guide</label></include>


and in fact - that is all you have to change to get the guide button to do something else...
