I thought about this for a long time now. I have had 3 failed brand new premium units and I'm on #4 now.

First 360 just died 10 minutes after playing for no reason. No longer powered on.
I thought GRAW killed my 2nd 360 when shutting off mid game but something got corrupt and died..3 rol and a 0102 error code
I thought the 6/6/06 update killed my 3rd 360 but again it died with 3rol and a 0102 error code

I realize it's not the other things killing the 360 but the 360 self destructing... Poor initial manufacturing, unfixed problems, or the unit just rushed to the market.

I see after ever replacement console duplicating what killed the last unit doesn’t affect the next unit.

Just buy the warranty or keep returning them to the store when then die like I do. Even if you mod the unit just buy a spare white case and commit some retail fraud (just kidding).

All in all it’s MS manufacturing and design problem that causes the 360 to die..No other reason.

After all you spouted in that other thread you started. I hope BC is not reading this now and I hope you have updated to your other thread to reflect this with the others who posted in it.
For anyone wondering what I am on about this is the original thread

I would not be pushing these self destruction theories bearing in mind how sure you were the update did the damage.
Anything electronic can fail at any time. A high proportion of failures will turn out to be common faults with that particular piece of equipment. it happens with everything the 360 is no different in that respect.
The only thing odd in all this is MS seems to be sending all the faulty consoles your way.

I have already applogized to BC. He helped me out with some other things and is a good guy. He just touched on a bad spot when my 360 died.

God I hate reading posts like this. Just because your 360 hasn't broken yet means that there isn't a single defective one? It's always the users fault? I bought my 360 on launch day and it didn't die until last week when the DVD drive shit out. Are you saying that I broke it?
Chancer
Yes stuff can and does die at any time. Some people are just damned unlucky with certain things and end up with more than thier fair share of faults on certain and subsequent items.
Its cars with me. whatever I buy I have problems with.
I highly doubt anyone would misuse their box so that it broke. Its simply electronic failure, unfortunately it is part of every product like this. You just have to hope fate does not pick on you for a series of these with subsequent boxes.

i got my 360 launch day and as morbid as it is im just waiting for it to crap out on me. though many have reported launch machines being fine it seems like it only a matter of time before im on the phone with MS calling them names.

good luck with #4

and he's labeling the 360 as self destructive scaring off potential buyers

But remember MS 360 quality PS2 quality according to most on the website. laugh.gif

The funny thing is most of the "broken" ps2s have dirty lasers and are very easily and quickly "repaired." How do I know. I have "fixed" a ton of em. The other issues with PS2s is the part that grips the disc gets polished after time and slips so the disc doesn't spin at speed. lil roughing it up and it is good to go. smile.gif

he is not scaring anyone but advicing them to save their hard earned cash.to be honest i think people will be far better investing thier hard earned $$$ on a japanese console like WII or PS3( i have never ever had a JAP console that failed me or gone dead ,i have droped my DS countless times & it still works & still have my PS2 from 4 years ago & still works boots backups fine both cds & dvds) , what the worse that could happen to a PS3 maybe a dead laser from reading cheap backup discs after a year or 2 atleast that would be easy to fix with a brand new laser for small cash better than a complete DEAD console with hardware failure within weeks or few months of buying.

when the japs do something they do it very well & they take it to the next level each time they release a new upgarded version ,they sure have amazing innovative brains. but the xbox 360 is hardly any innovation maybe advance in graphics on its predecessor with further more flaws in design & hardware.

i'm not a fan of any company because of which country they are based in !!! but i'm rather a fan of who ever respect me when taking my money they exchange it for quality product which i the consumer deserve & be happy with.as for the xbox 360 if you lucky not to have a problem thus far i'm sure you always looking at the green circle with your heart in your mouth. shame.

I do agree with Nintendo consoles running stong. I never had a ganecube, but man the N64 was built like a rock as the SNES and the NES. I guess they had to though since they target younger age group.

might i add that the NGC has been found to work after being "towed" on a street at >30mph, maybe even >40, without any wheels? so basically, two crazy f*ers attached a cube to their car with some rope and did that. they tested a game. and it frickin worked.
lex_luther23
I have had my first 360 since launch was a preorder from gamestop no problems what so ever. Bought a 2nd one from walmart no issues with it as well the best thing to do is since all stores seem to have them in stock is to buy from your local walmart or some other local store and put your receipt in A safe place incase
somthing does go wrong you can just return it and bypass the Micorsoft ship and return ship all togather. Why wait 2 to 3 weeks for a return on a system when u can walk in your local walmart and exchange hell they exchange with out receipts as long as its for the same item!!

Why make things hard when they don't have to be honestly?

Since the other thread has been closed I'd like to update on my progress. I received my 2nd XBOX 360 in the mail tuesday. It was manufatured November 4th 2005(My first one on November 12th) I played around with the system for about 20 minutes before reluctantly downloading the update. Downloaded the update and I kid you not, 5 minutes later the system crashed. Same exact symptoms as before, red lights, plays for 2 minutes now. Off to MS again, this is ridiculous.

There are inherent hardware flaws in certain models that this update is bringing out. I can't believe you apoligized to Cheesey, that guy has issues of his own.

I'll keep you guys updated when my 3rd box comes in.

Electronics are easy and easy to break with more and more jammed into in smaller and smaller
spaces, and sometimes is not the user that is fault, it can be the location of their place.

I had one user always complaining his XBOX was breaking, less than two months. It was located
next in the basement rec room next to the laundry machines, and within two months the insides
were packed with "dryer lint".

Another person, I know was loosing the picture on his big screen TV ever four to six months, I
found it was because he lived next to the main hydro lines and towers, and I set of high-tension
power lines cross over the back end of his house, moved the TV to the other end of the house,
away from the high-tension lines, and five years later no TV failures.

Lastly, my friend's computer would corrupt his files and documents on almost daily job, replaced
the motherboard & cpu, then the RAM, then the hard drive, reformatted over two times, still lots
of data lost, and bad files, etc. --- Found his APT. was next to the local car "dent & repair" shop
for traffic crashs, and everytime they turn on the big welding machines, the computer LOST DATA.

The moral of the story is, it is not always the companies fault, or the user's fault, it can just be the
place were your electronics are.

This is true, but not the case in my situation. I have the 360 in an open air slot in my media center, nothing above or on it's sides, lots of free air to breathe. A foot below that I have my Original Xbox which has been there for 6 years and has never failed on me.

It's not if your 360 will die, but when.

Get the warrenty.

6 years? Thats amazing considering that the original Xbox was released retail November 2001 which would make it less than 5 years blink.gif

maybe it could be you have a fauly power supply... Did they replace that. My grandpa bought a 360 and I set it all up for him, plenty of ventilation and all. Then we started setting his system settings and as soon as I set the settings for his HD TV, bam 3 red lights.. I thought it was odd. I plugged my working 360 in and I also got 3 red lights. So I then plugged my PSU in and hooked it up to his system and worked fine. So maybe you want them to replace that also. Also maybe you should plug it into another socket. Maybe if you have to many things plugged into one socket this could cause shorts or something. Maybe try a free single socket if you have one in the area.
