So I've got an Xbox that needs a bit of a fixin', I guess...Its got the error 21 screen, and hasn't been modded. I'm pretty sure a while back I tried XboxHDM and couldn't even get the drive to get unlocked (or it was a lot harder to do than it was with my regular Xbox)

Anybody have any suggestions? I shoulda used that Unlocker program that was free a while back, but I figured that since I didn't have the EEPROM backed up, it wouldn't have been of any use...

EDIT - There is no error number. This is weird...

I am still figuring these things out but I found a nice page that may or maynot help you out (good luck) http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/explana...error_codes.htm

Meh, older Xbox I take it...my friend who had it never played on Live, so guess it explains that.

Well, regarless of how I try to boot it (with dvd and no dvd), I still get the same screen. I had trouble unlocking the HDD to use with XboxHDM, but I could try that again...

Not having an EEPROM backup because this was my friend's box is so not cool.

Well if its got no error number it could be a dead hd it could be a dash error.

It could be any of the errors..

Try hotswapping it..Thats really all yu can do.
Besides buy a modchip but even with a chip if
your hds dead youll have to get a new 1.

But its hard to pinpoint the problem with no error number.

Try the hotswap and rebuild C: If that work great if not than youve got a bigger problem.

Also 1.0 xboxs dont give error numbers so that prolly what you have a 1.0.

and your topic was error 21 did you every see a 21 on the top left corner or did sum1 else tell you they did??

The error 21 I was doing from memory, but that was a while ago...and got it mixed up with a different Xbox.

I'll try the hotswap tomorrow, maybe I'll have better luck than I did a few months ago.

If this works, I'll be ridiculously happy...one box for Live, the other one with a gimongous hard drive and Stepmania and stuff smile.gif
