ive been reading posts about the matrix programmer, and it seems that its pretty much been hit and miss trying to get it to work, some people reccommend different operating systems, some say its a power issue and still others say its the motherboards chipset

i thought it might be a good idea to get everyone to post info about the system that they used to program thier matrix, so that those of us who still cant get it would have a better idea of what works and what doesnt

please leave as much information as possible inlcuding operating system, processor type, motherboard/chipset, new/used battery, winlpc/wmilk, giveio driver for xp? did u pinch the matrix to the programmer? etc etc, just anything that you think will help us out

has no one gotten the matrix programmer to work? i know that couldnt be the case so ill give this a bump, hopefully some people that got it going will respond and help out

I used my laptop, Compaq Presario 1500, Pentium 4 2GHz, 256MB of ram, WinXP, Givio driver(whouldn't work without it), pinch technique.

Pinch technique(on a laptop) = plug in programmer w/matrix. use left hand, place index finger along the end of the programmer and apply force toward the laptop. Use your thumb and push the top of the matrix against the programmer, it will then press against your index finger.

windows 98, celeron 800mhz, 128mb ram. i didnt have any problems at all, i use winlpc.

It just so happens that I have access to a LOT of different PC's. I tried 13 different systems before I found one that would flash the freaking Matrix with winLP. Not only does it seem to be picky about the system its flashed with, but also the battery, the alignment of the stars, and whether you have prayed to the right gods. I HATE that!

once flashed, the Matrix mod is ok. but dang! flashing really sucks unless you HAPPEN to have that perfect (and 'unknown') combo.

rant 2 on matrix: I have to open my friggen box and tighten the screw every week. I will never ever buy another solderless mod again! Soldering is obviously more reliable, and is so easy a 10 yr old can do it.

Get a X2Pro mod. much nicer mod, and no issues flashing.

actually all of the ones that have been posted so far have had intel processors

theyve all been different generations (celeron, p3, p4) so that shouldnt make a difference, but the chipsets must all be intel to use an intel processor? it would help if you guys would post the motherboard model and chipset along with the other info so that we could see if they have anything in common, only if its not too much trouble of course

yeah and everyone in the world has intel processors. i have one and cant program a matrix for shit. there must be something else that we dont know about that needs to be configured to work with winLPC. Does anyone have inside access to xodus to find out what went into making the programmer and WinLPC compatibility issues???

well ... hate to break the trend, but I flashed mine on an athalon-tbird 1.2/Abit M/B with via kt133 chipset running win2k.

I tried 2 different p4 systems running linux and XP, but no go.

Strangely, I didn't do anything special to finally get it to work. I tried a new battery, and made 100% sure it was in (which means push hard until you hear the loud snap). Then i just plugged in the programmer and used winlpc. Its worked fine with a few different flashes so far.

I would assume the different configuration problems have more to do with software than hardware. It probably has something to do with this low level lpc communication method. There really can't be any way for the programmer to had a hardware preference.
