I have just burnt my first backup and wasnt really expected it to work but the xbox gives me a disc unreadable error so does this mean that the game was burned wrong my FW flash was not done right? or both?

edit:
when flashing the FW with xtreme.bat everything works fine but i get an error with deviceIOControl failed to execute flasher. It was flashing sector 90027000 (challenge response)
Thanks

could be a number of issues working against you. did you patch the image with the correct ss.bin?

Did you burn it to a good brand of media? like verbatium dvd-r dl 8.5gb

Does your burner support Bitsetting?

are you using a good burner like pioneer or lite-on?

are you using one of the newer versions of cd clone to burn the image file?

do you have the 360 with a hitachi drive or a sammy?

all of these things factor into making a working back-up you should really try to read more.

you will find out all you need to know by spending a few minutes reading the topics and post in the Technical DVD-ROM and Modified DVD Firmware Forum.

soundslike a flash problem you should look into reflashing till you get no errors (such as failed to execute flasher)

Ok so i kept flashing untill everything worked and the disk is still unreadable. I have a plextor 716a and burning on verbatim +r dl. the SS i got online (claimed to be verified for NTCS USA) because i have a hitachi drive. When i used the ss merger it always says the iso was not found in their database so does that mean that maybe i am dumping the image wrong. Also when i added the ss in merger it showed up in red...

Thanks

Ok so i just backed up kameo ss merger reconized it and they ss file turned green so i know everythign that way is good. I burned the game with verbatim +r dl and at 2.4x with my plextor 716a and i still get the disc unreadable. has there been problems using plextor drives?

Thanks

Yeah, your DVD burner is probably not compatible (unless your drive isn't bitsetting). I burned through about 15 DVDs with incompatible burners before I bought a Pioneer DVR111D and everything works fine.

I am confused as to how certain burners dont work and others do.... Also seems weird that plextor doesnt work as its one of the best... oh well the pioneer is pretty cheap on newegg so i may pick one up... thanks for the info

I finally manage to burn succesfully a backup dvd. I have the same problem "the unreadable error". Many discs pop up the error message immediately after inserting the game into the xbox360 and some others where playable for about half an hour. What did i do ? I did a research for compatible dvd writers. I used a nec 2510a with no upgraded firmaware and probably the burn wasn't good (even though i was able to play the backup for half an hour). Now i am using a nec 3550a with 1y6 firmware and all the games work great with no problems. I also reflashed my drive with 5.2d firmware instead of 5.2a. It seems to work better with the backup games.
When i asked about the unreadable error they told me that it's a problem with the dvd lens and i should have it replaced. Considering that i was able to play all the original games with no problem i decided to make a research and finally i DID IT jester.gif

So if you have any problem as described above make sure your dvd writer is capable of burning succesfully xbox 360 games before doing anything else.

I have a toshiba ms25 dvd drive flashed with 5.2d xf. I burn the backups with clonecd at 2.4x speed.
