- A Xbox v1.6 with no hard drive (factory drive crashed)
- A brand new 200gb lockable hard drive
- a "Action Replay" kit
- 1st version of Splinter Cell.
- Slayers Evox Auto Installer v2.6
- Auto Installer Deluxe 3.0
- ConfigMagic
- FlashFXP
- Xboxhdm 1.9
- Ldots ltools Package v1.7.5
- A torx screwdirver set (I've already removed the old drive)

I've collected this stuff after reading tons of "tutorials" but each one seems to conflict with the other. Can someone share with me a solid step-by-step tutorial for the extreme novice xbox user?

correct me if im wrong (which i often am) but i dont think that you are supposed to use slayers with softmods. Auto installer deluxe should be all you need. just figured I'd point that out.

Yes, I've just been collecting these various tools really not knowing how to use them. If it's Auto Installer Deluxe 3.0 that I need, can someone intruct me on how to use it?

Use Krayzies NDure for Splintercell Check the usual places in my Sig..

Also You have to be very careful with a autoinstaller..You could use the apps and Emulators.

Your better off just grabing up to date apps and dashes from the usual places and FTPing them to you xbox.

you wont need configmagic either ndure will backup your eeprom.bin which is what you need to lock the new drive.

If you dont have the eeprom from the factory drive your gonna need a Mod chip..
I didnt see that till I reread your post..

There also a way to build/buy a eeprom reader but i doont know anything about it ive just read about it here.

Also do you have the factory hd? If so whats wrong with it?
d_pimp_dude
correct me if i'm wrong but if is Original hdd as just crashed, he won't be able to get is eeprom without any locked hdd or a modchip cause the xbox won't boot anything! blink.gif

MethenyD, I suggest following this guide and scrap the autoinstaller. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=496263

Read the DaddyJ's thread, linked in topic. You could and try pulling the ide from the dvd drive to force error 12.

edit: whoops wrong error
