I have a plextor 716a and have been having trouble with making backups. I am pretty sure my drive is flashed correct and the image and ss are correct so i am thining of getting a pioneer. However before i do so i was wondering if anyone else has used plextors drives for the backups and if so how well it worked. Thanks

There's a post I added to a different board about a problem that I had with making backups of my original games.
I only have a Samsung in my console and the few people that I've pointed it out too have had Hitachi's so even though it's been an issue for them, because they have the Hitachi and it's notoriously hard to get too read a backup anyways it hasn't been the only thing they've had to fix.
Here's the link to the post. If you're having trouble getting your backups to read in Samsung drive then I would check and see if your burner is doing this.
I've since bought a Pioneer 111d and it works flawlessly.
Every game I burnt with my Sony drive I had problems with, because of this.
If it helps at all pass it on to anyone that you think it might help because I know of several burners now that do it and I would assume that there's a lot more.

Thanks for the input... I am in class now but tonight when i get back i will check and make sure if sectors are being wrote correct. If not i will pick my self up a pioneer. Do you know if only the 111d works or if all pioneer drives work? Because i can not find a store that has the 111d but bestbuy has the DVR-710B5PK on sale for 60 so i may go pick that up and give it a try before ordering the 111d.

ok first i found out that the 710 from bb is the 111d so good news there. Second this is a dumb Q but when using xtreme.bat to flash my hitachi drive do i still need to put in my dvd key or does this prog do it for you? I think this may be my prob as i never replaced the key as i thought it was automatic with xtreme.bat. Als does it make sence that if i did not relace it with my key that my orig games still boot?
Thanks

I'm not sure whether you have inject your key with a Hitachi firmware because I've only flashed Samsungs. From what I can tell though it only flashes part of your firmware and not the whole firmware.
You would have to ask someone that's flashed a Hitachi to be certain but I would think that you'd have to include your key somehow.
I've got a feeling that the xtreme.bat extracts the key from your original firmware and patches the key for you but again I can't be certain. One thing to make sure of though is to backup your original firmware into several places.
Someone on here will help you, make sure you tell them what firmware package your using and what version of Hitachi drive

Ok so i checked my Kameo backup with clonecd my layerbreak is the same as the .dvd file. Also when checking media on dvdinfopro is says the book type is dvd-rom.. It does however know that the media is a +r dl is this normal? I know that the ss file was correct and i am pretty sure my flash is good as it never gave any errors. Can it still be a burner issue even though the layerbreak is correct? Are there any other options?

I used my Plextor PX-755A and it worked great. You can change Bitsetting with PlexTools

What are you running your backups on a hitachi drive?
Also i just tried viewing the contents from the backup with wx360 and it said it was not an xbox 360 iso, However it does read the iso of the game on my harddrive so now i am trying to figure out where i went wrong...

Another thing i have realized is that everyone is talking about the file being gamename.000 where my backups are gamename.iso? Am i dumping the game wrong? I am using wxripper.

Sounds strange. It works flawlessly with my plextor. I use CloneCD and the .dvd for my .ISO's to get them working. No tricks needed. Works like an original
