Ok, so I got the Spinter Cell soft mod, had it running on a 1.1 Xbox with UnleashX for my Dash. Decided to run EvolutionX instead, just to try it out. So I used the Splinter Cell thing to swith them over. My Xbox gave me the 13 error. So, I went to restore my MS Dashboard, before I could get to it, it anned it all and reloaded Splinter Cell. Eventually I got it to restore the MS one, but I can't reinstall any other Dashboard as I only have a few seonds and even when I start the install it quits before I get a chance to stop it. I have tried removing the disk, but the system closes the drive before I can even get my finger in the way!
I have no idea what to do, I can't get an FTP or anything to fix it, so am rather onfused. It did not give me any grief the first time, I took my pokey time looking at all the options then picking one.
Any ideas? Perhaps using Mechassault would work better? Also I do have access to another modded Xbox if that would help., as well as DVD burner and such.

Thanks,
Lotus

First off, you aren't modding your Xbox with the "Splinter Cell Method" or the "Mech Assault Method".

When posting, we need to know the EXPLOIT used. IE UDE, Krazie's, etc...

Do you have access to any back ups made during the first softmod?

Did you at least back up your eeprom and save it to the HD?

Here is what I would do with no back ups:

Since you have access to a modded Xbox, get Krazie's Ndure and get it on a mem card and to your Xbox.

Get a stock C drive.

Boot up Krazie's and get the IP address so you can FTP in. Delete everything on the C drive and copy the stock C files over. Delete everything on the E drive except the Cache, Udata and Tdata folders.

Reboot the Xbox.

Run Krazie's again and back up the eeprom. Copy the C and E drives to your PC.

Continue installing the softmod.

After installing, I would back up the C and E drives again. That way if you want to install a bigger hard drive, you have the modded C and E to put on Xboxhdm.

If you need to restore to stock, you have the pre-modded C and E as well.

I just got it to work. I have no idea what method it is. A friend of mine was given the Mem Card with a hacked Splinter cell game. Splinter Cell and a DVD with a bunch of apps on it. Now on his xbox he ran SC and then loaded the game, crashed his xbox somehow, tossed the other disk in and it worked fine.
When I did mine, I ran SC loaded the save game and then installed UnleashX and it worked fine. I can't read the disk in my XBox (it is a DVD+R and mine won't read any of those)
Anyways my main question was why did I have all the time in the world the first time and then running through again it would restart SC without giving me time to work?

Ah and my solution was, pick Install UnleashX as fast as humanly possible. The install did not complete, but apparently the first file it installs is the replacement Dashboard, which was the only file that must have gotten messed up, so even installing for just under a second it had enough time to replace that file.

I am wondering why this happens so if it happens to anyone else, they'll be able to get an answer.

Here is a list of all the information I know about the Mod I used. The saved game file was called Linux, it had two other SC games on the memory card with it (Not sure if they are for the player who had the memcard or not though, the one game was called Ace, the other I am unsure of) When I ran the Save it would go blank for a sec or two and bring up a screen that said UnleashX and then it would bring up a brownish backgrounded menu. The menus first few options are Backup MS Dashboard, Backup Mod Dashboard, Restore Dashboards, Instal Softmod, Install EvoX, Install UnleashX, then some more options about FTP's and a handful of others.

That's all I know about the mod itself. My issue is still fixed, but it might be nice for others to know in case it ever happens again.
