Hi all,

I've recently put in an xecuter 2.6 chip with xapter 1.6 non solder adapter into a 1.6 xbox. I backed up the retail hardrive and installed slayers 2.6 on this. This is all working fine.

I the tried to install a 300gb Maxtor. When i tried to swap the drives and boot up i got error 7. I've tried all combinations of jumper setting and have removed and reconnected the ide and power supply. At one point i managed to boot the drive and tried to install slayer but when i rebooted the system it just freezes at the xbox logo and then defaults to error 7.

To make sure that i haven't damaged any equipment i put back the retail drive and everything works fine, including the retail drive booting up slayers version of evox from harddrive.

What is wrong with the new drive? how can i fix this

Does it do the click of death? I would return it and get a new one.

yes that sounds familiar, is there any other solution than returning the drive, it's been a while since it was purchased

It is probably the drive. Most have a 3-5 year warranty.

You could try to build the drive with Xboxhdm to see if it does it in the PC also.
