This dvd drive sticks when i press the main button to open it, but opens when i use the paper clip. The drive reads the game just fine.

Any ideas?
Is it bad to use the paperclip all the time?
Is it worth it to replace the drive?

There are tutorials here on how to dissasemble the drives and clead them. Could be a bad motor too.

If you don't mind the paper clip, keep using it. When that gets too old, replace the drive.

The drive pulls the tray closed just fine when i open it with the clip, but i am not sure if there is something that is catching or anything like that.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to take it apart and mess with it, but for now the clip isn't all that bad in all reality.
