Ok I just got my 2.6CE and am just about to install,

-I just downloaded x2 5035 bios, is that good for the 320gb hdd that I am going to install??? How do I get that bios onto my modchip? I've got a Programmer, so is it just a matter of uploading it?

-Once I've installed the chip and the bios I just need to burn the installer and chose the right install option and off I go right?

-I still have to desolder the LPC holes to install my solderless adapter: Is it better to use a solder sucker or desoldering braid??? any risks of spreading arund solder?

Thx everybody!!! smile.gif

oooo

why dont you just do the wire install?
its 10x as fast and you dont have to worry bout burnin the mobo

i have modded a 1.0 more than once, and the wireinstall is s00 much easier than solderless

That bios will do nicely.

You could use the programmer, or use FlashBIOS that already comes on your modchip. FlashBIOS can flash from a CD, hard drive, etc.

Yeah, you can use the installer, make sure you know the boot order of your bios.

If you really want to desolder the LPC holes, use the desoldering braid. It's better for small jobs like that. Solder suckers are better for large points.

I can only speak from my personal experience, but I find that the solder sucker works really well, and it is simple to use, just make sure you have good suction as some of those soldered holes could be hard to take out. Just take your time, good luck!

Ok thx for all the prompt answers, what is the wire install? Is that really easier, how does it work?

Remember to format the drive with partition 6+7 (F + G). If you use as a large F you will sooner or later get data corruption on a HDD that size with a single partition.
Wire install means you can solder wires to the LPC to connect to the chip in place of the pinheader. It saves de-soldering the LPC
